rush to throw out Obamacare could backfire

We are the most religious democracy in the world, and our Judeo-Christian ethic demands that we take care of the downtrodden. But we are also the only advanced democracy without universal health coverage. Are we confused . . . or just hypocrites?

My bet is that we are very confused. The public’s reaction to Obamacare (also known as the Affordable Care Act, or ACA) is a prime example of our confusion.

Most Americans are preoccupied with making a living and raising a family, and rightly so. They have no time to fully examine health care policy issues.

Surveys show that people do not like Obamacare, especially the mandatory insurance requirement, but most actually agree with numerous aspects of the health law, like waivers for people with pre-existing conditions.

I believe that many people do not understand how insurance works or realize that you cannot get one thing (waivers) without the other (mandates), due to the basic financial model by which insurance operates.

Many Obamacare supporters are sincereley religious and honestly believe that they are good Christians/Jews.

Their mistake is that Satan has tricked them into believing that the religion of Cain is the Judeo-Christian religion. They sincerely believe a heresy.

Yeah, but “replace” hopefully means with some kind of freedom-based system like HSAs, not something 10% less tyrannical than Ebolacare.

They had at least a year at genisis of this law, and six years since it’s enactment to make their case.

They failed. We ain’t buying it.

Who gets to decide? Guaranteed AIDS doesn’t get included with the lifestyle choices. There will be a room full of elitist snobs determining this, whatever they deem evil and unhealthy will get taxed again and again. Then as the system is collapsing they will use your poor choices to deny treatment. I am good with the old system where the poor choice is, not being covered.

I am not sure of the solution to the preexisting conditions—I know you do not tear the house apart for the small percentage of people that need the fix, that applies to the whole insurance fiasco that we have now. Only like 15% didn’t have insurance, most by choice. Why is this my problem and why should I pay for it?

How do you draw the line with heart attacks, strokes and cancer?

If someone EVER smoked a cigarette or drank a beer or ate at McDonalds they are ineligible?

Or is it a month, or a year of use?

How do you know their problem was CAUSED by their lifestyle choice?

our Judeo-Christian ethic demands that we take care of the downtrodden.

1. Yes, the "downtrodden." Not deadbeats who won't help themselves. Not illegal immigrants who violate our laws to exploit our generosity. Not predators and abortionists and charter members of the Midnight Knife and Gun Club.

2. When you say "we," that doesn't mean "the government." Healthcare was never a governmental responsibility until the last few decades. Before that, private charities and religious institutions handled it. Ever wonder why hospitals are named things like "SAINT Jude's" and "SISTERS OF MERCY" and "METHODIST" or "PRESBYTERIAN" or "LUTHERAN" instead of "Federal Health Agency and Baitshoppe"?

I expect Donald Trump to continue to circumvent all the closed door crap, so whatever individual congressmen do it won’t get to be hidden.

The press has had its gatekeeper status revoked.

Doctors and Hospitals can change to a more efficient approach that has less bureaucratic overhead. They just have to think about medicine.

Insurance companies are more heavily invested in the concept of subsidies (partnerships). They could well face creative destruction with more providers selling memberships in care clubs that totally bypass the insurance thing, except for major medical.

SO WHAT!

So sick of "take care of the downtrodden" meaning MORE TAXES and MORE FEDGOV and more government at all levels. SICK OF IT! BURN OBAMACARE DOWN TO THE WATERLINE! BURN ALL GOVERNMENT HEALTHCARE! Open up the floodgates of freedom for companies to sell insurance and even healthcare across state lines.

2 great points that need to be repeated often:

1. The government should not be in the charity business.

2. Medical Insurance is NOT medical care.

We are the most religious democracy in the world...

An immediate tip-off that this article is going to spew lies. The United States is a Constitutional Republic. Every Sovereign State in the Union is required to and has a republican form of government.

Americans despise Obamacare because it violates the Constitution and the Judeo-Christian values it was built on. Of course, the article's author can't believe that Americans are intelligent and capable of making intelligent decisions. Too bad he doesn't understand the deep seated morality our Constitution is based upon.

They can have wavers, just get to pay for it.

If you have a 2 million dollar pre existing condition, why should a company be expected to pick up a tab?

Maybe go through all your assets and then get welfare insurance, but before that expect to pay through the nose.

Millions of welfare types got access to better care at a high cost to the working taxpayer.
Simply give them welfare insurance and be done.

Ah yes, I ‘member the Bible quote, “Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s and demand Caesar help the poor so you don’t have to be bothered to do it”.

In Christianity you give to others as a matter of free will. In the socialist utopia of the libtards, someone holds a gun to your head and rifles your wallet and gives it to others. You have no free will in the latter.

Isn't if funny how the statists always jaw jaw positively about Christ, the one Being they hate more than anything else in the universe, when they are scheming to rob you some more?

Christ deserves better than to be used in cheap cynicism.

Even Obama hisownself didn’t rush to IMPLEMENT Obamacare, it was funded (but not active) for several years and we are only now seeing the price hikes and truer annual costs of this boondoggle.

If the frogs had been subjected to this boiling kettle all at once, they would’ve revolted over it and thrown every Rat out of office since THEY are the only ones who voted for it.

Notice that the ACLU never demands that the taxation known as Obamacare be rejected even though Democrats (including Obama) keep making “Christian” RELIGIOUS arguments for its existence.

How can we be FORCED to tithe to the Democrats vision of Christianity?
