Many, many women live in a fantasy world, and without a man in their lives their is no control or “gate” to control their hysterical impulses and behaviors. And their children suffer for it.
They use their self-absorbed pre-crazy cat lady friends as sounding boards, so of course they diverge from common cense and reality. This could have easily been predicted.
They serve to weaken and fray the fabric of society with their capricious desires.
Divorce and single motherhood has been around for generations. What's new, however, is that the stigma has been lost. Instead of a quietly whispered "His father isn't in the picture...", instead we've replaced it with Oprah cheering for "Tanisha, A Single Moooom!!! Wooo-Woo!"
No there's no social downside for the mother to rampant bastardry. The kids, unfortunately, take the brunt of it. We're just now beginning to see the end result in Generation X, and Millenials.
