I worked in two Chrysler plants. One was torn down and paved over, and the other was just torn down and turned into a brownfield.
About 1700 jobs lost between the two. Downstream collateral job losses were about 11,000.
This was before the recession hit in 2007.
Those areas of Michigan never recovered.
I also remember a majority of FR rejoicing over the destruction of the auto industry and their evil unions.
Now all,of you are being taxed into oblivion to pay their welfare and FTAA tab.
Best Chrysler I ever had was a 1954 Chrysler Newport New Yorker Deluxe! Owned by a little old lady in Brown Deer. She never drove it! Huge Hemi, with a tiny little single throat carb. It had a stick shift, but you could shift without clutching. Car was mint! It had been coated when new with a Dupont #7 clearcoat product, and also undercoated! Tan glove leather interior. I don’t know how many tubes the radio had, but the instructions were to park under a bridge to set the AM only presets. What a wonderful car! Maroon.
Not all of us were rejoicing watching the de industrialization of the USA.
