I think it’s a shame. They should have let him do it. That’s a tradition I don’t think needed to be blown up. The man is 89 years old, and it may have been his last parade anyway. There are a lot of people who don’t want anything to do with Trump, and this man was excited to announce the parade for him.
Several points...
1. I tend to agree about going with tradition. Maybe there is more to the story, though.
2. I would put no age limits on this. If the man is capable and willing, I don’t see what his age has to do with it. True for any job.
3. I didn’t even know there was an “inaugural parade announcer”. Would anyone even notice if this person was not on the job?
4. I wouldn’t recommend going into that line of work. From what I hear, there are not a lot of job openings, the work is seasonal, and there is not much opportunity for advancement.

The gentleman is a life-long Democrat. I’m sure the Trump organization knows exactly what it is doing in making this decision. They might have reasons to be concerned that he would take the opportunity to embarrass the President. In my view Trump would be wise to NEVER trust any Democrat.
