President Obama has ignored calls by Donald Trump to halt the transfer of the 59 remaining prisoners from Guantanamo Bay and plans to release a third of them before he leaves office.
Mr Obama campaigned in 2008 on a promise to close the prison, which is located on a US naval base in southeastern Cuba, and which he called a recruiting tool for extremists. It has been controversial since it was opened in 2002 by President Bush Jr because of its extrajudicial practices and alleged use of torture.
Mr Trump has vowed to keep the prison open and “load it up with some bad dudes”. He tweeted on Tuesday: “There should be no further releases from Gitmo. These are extremely dangerous people and should not be allowed back on to the battlefield.”

The commander of Gitmo should tell Obama NO more prisoner releases. Whats Obama going to do...have a fit. Of course there is another option where they are removed in body bags.
I hope we own or can cheaply buy more land around Gitmo, because I see it becoming even larger. With a beautiful big tall wall around it! Paid for by Cuba.

Trump ought to go on record and say in no uncertain terms that the US WILL kill the entire immediate and extended families of any terrorist released between now and Inauguration Day.
After all, they are a bunch of cut-throat Muslim villains cut in the mold of Obama.

It’s OK. Trump will hunt them down and kill them anyway;meanwhile, this just frees up some more space for the next batch of detainees which should include the Obamas, the Clintons,and all their enablers.

Hope the GI’s have enough gumption to have put tracking devices in there vermin so that they’ll be easier to catch.
This congress could stop or at least delay this move. This is the problem with the Obama-years in a nutshell — too many weak-kneed GOP congressmen.
If GITMO gets overcrowded you just organize a “Freedom Swim” for the inmates. Point toward Miami and say “swim”. There are enough sharks operating in that harbor to make sure that none of them makes it very far.
