FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) Federal law enforcement sources said the suspected gunman in a deadly attack at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport got into an argument during his flight from Alaska to Florida.
Theyre now investigating whether thats what set off a shooting rampage that left 5 dead and 8 others wounded.
Esteban Santiago-Ruiz, 26, took a flight from Alaska to Florida Friday with a stop in Minnesota, officials said. Somewhere along the way, he got into an argument.
According to Broward Commissioner Chip LaMarca, Santiago-Ruiz arrived from a flight with a gun that he checked in.

If the perp left Anchorage with no arrangements made for leaving Fort Lauderdale airport, sounds like premeditation to me....

Yes, this part of one sentence, I’ve learned earlier during the course of this thread, is incorrect:
“...because of his permissions granted by the Guard and, apparently, the Army.”
The remainder of the sentence and the rest of my post stand without correction. Please read more of this thread for further understanding.
Prosecutors said Hartman tried three times to get on planes to Hawaii, on Feb. 15, 18 and 20, 2014. (Now she has a restaining order where she can’t get near an airport without a ticket.)
The first time, she made it through security and onto an airplane without a ticket, and was only caught when the ticketed passenger arrived and found her sitting in the seat.
Back in the day of paper tickets, it was not that rare for an occasional cabin stowaway to make it aboard. Then they’d get booted off if they weren’t hidden for the head count.
Now it’s nearly impossible and the crazy bold ones who do manage to slip by, garner a headline.
And just happened to have a 9mm gun checked in his baggage, and three full magazines?
And had recently presented himself to the Anchorage FBI, where our esteemed team of “intelligence” professionals sent him for psychiatric hospitalization?
Speaking only for myself, I will gladly trade some freedom, for better law enforcement pertaining to these individuals that are falsely “vetted” by “intelligence.”
“I am but the rest of us are not.”
Schizophrenia is not multiple personality disorder.
Look it up.
I didn’t know about that. I guess it’s to be expected, though.
lots of people carry weapons on flights. If you go to Alaska to hunt, you can carry your rifles in the baggage hold as long as you jump through the hoops necessary to do it. My cousin went up there hunting once and he took his rifles with him. It is legal carry in the cargo hold. BUT, he was not allowed to carry ammo. THAT was the catch as should have been here.
Essentially disregarded by both the FBI and TSA. Something a nursing toddler could never get past.
fat people were demanding special seating.
or something else?
it is always about seating
Yep.
It’s like when the government says “he was spouting off something about God” when a terrorist screams Allah Fubar.
Pretty much all of the jihadist attacks we’ve seen were from “known actors” (actors meaning participants, not staged provocateurs) already in files and watch lists and even interviewed.
The connections of the 9-11 terrorists who’d overstayed their visas, Sgt. Akbar, the Boston bombers, the San Bernadino jihadist couple, the Orlando Obama voter, those on campuses, et al...
He legally checked in his gun in an approved locked container in one of his bags and the ammo.
We have younger relatives who hunt in many places beyond their homes. They declared and check in their guns and ammo before boarding and at the ticket counter.
I took a 357 to Alaska a little before 9/1. I had it and the ammo in a legal locked container and declared it at both checkin and departure stations.

He was on a Delta flight, not an Air Canada.
