How much is the loss of multiple factory jobs costing Mexico? If this work begins in earnest, you’ll see Mexico begging for a new start with us. I wouldn’t want to play Trump at chess.

Mexico and the United States are great trading partners however the present rules of the game benifit Mexico far more than the USA. Trumps wall and trade practices will correct this. Mexico needs the USA far more than we need Mexico.

Mexico will complain and bellow about the new trade deals, but will accept them as to not accept them insures economic collapse of Mexico. Mexico is dependent on the USA and we are not dependent on Mexico.

If one looks at the population of Mexico and their incredible wealth in natural resources relative to mining, agriculture, oil, vacation paradises they should as an indivdual nation be far more successful than any state in the United States. They are not due to endemic corruption of their government from the President all the way down to the street cops and their judicial system is equally corrupt.

Dissenters to this corruption often die.

Oddly enough the average Mexican citizen is a very hard working man or woman. They are the victims of this corruption and thus flee to the United States. I have great compassion for them but they are illegals and not my nations problem.

There is a place for them to work in the United States as "guest workers" only. These guest workers must be vetted and approved before they sit foot on American soil. As guest workers they must receive zero social benefits for themselves or family as that family must remain behind in their country of origin. Emergency health crisis excepted of course.

If they can work here for 17 years and be productive citizens I welcome them to my country and will gladly give them citizenship.

The reason I say 17 years is that is how long my brother in law from Mexico needed to become a citizen. He stood in line, the legal line and did everything he was supposed to do. He did not sneak across he border. He lived legally in the USA with his sister as a foreign national. He did everything correctly and 17 years later became a citizen.

You have a great grasp of Mexico, in my opinion. I agree with your point of view. I’ve always said that they have an abundance of natural beauty and resources as a nation. The have enormous potential, if not for their corrupt government.

I’ve also said that I’m very thankful that our southern neighbors are at least nominally Christian. We could have been bordered by Saudi Arabia..just imagine that!

“If they can work here for 17 years and be productive citizens I welcome them to my country and will gladly give them citizenship.”

All the while getting welfare payments and tax refunds that far outstrip their paycheck. Don’t make excuses for these thieves.

Screw that, get em out.

Let others do it the right way, like your brother in-law.
