The marching band of Alabama's oldest private, historically black liberal arts college has accepted an invitation to perform at President-elect Donald Trump's inaugural parade, organizers said.
Talladega College's band will march at Trump's inauguration as other historically black schools such as Howard University, which performed at President Barack Obama's first inaugural parade, said they won't be marching in the Jan. 20 event.
"We were a bit horrified to hear of the invitation," said Shirley Ferrill of Fairfield, Alabama, a member of Talladega's Class of 1974.
"I don't want my alma mater to give the appearance of supporting him," Ferrill said of Trump on Monday. "Ignore, decline or whatever, but please don't send our band out in our name to do that."
The move has lit up Talladega College's social media sites with a sharp debate about the band's decision to participate in the parade. Some people voiced strong opposition, while others support the band's participation.

ah yes, just like all those Whitish colleges, teams, groups etc that declined going to BOs inaug parade just because he is Black. (OF COURSE, we are no longer able to have a White college etc etc etc)
Like I have said all along, I find absolutely NOTHING wrong with BO’s Black side, it is his WHITE half and his politics that tend to nauseate me.
That makes both of us.
The Majority of outfits are military and police bands. I guess even the border patrol is going to be marching in the parade.
I love that song. The band my mother-in-Law hired to play my wedding played it.

That’s what I’d like to know. Besides that, if they listened to the media, there weren’t any black people at Trump’s rallies.
What a shame that they allowed photographers dressed in blue jeans to detract from the solemnity of the occasion.
It was a dress rehersal. They have a few of those till the main event. This night happened to be media night.
We have a huge crop of emotionally crippled social misfits to contend with....
My daughter tells me there are black students at her high school who truly believe Trump might ship them off to Africa.
