Oliver Stone is warning of Cold War-like hysteria over claims that Russian President Vladimir Putin was behind hacking in order to give Donald Trump an advantage over Hillary Clinton.
In an essay titled The Russians Are Coming posted on his Facebook page, Stone acknowledged that I never thought Id find myself praying for the level-headedness of a Donald Trump, but warned of what he called group-think in accepting the conclusion that Russia was behind the pre-election hack of the Democratic National Committee and of Clintons campaign chairman, John Podesta.
He linked to stories that cast doubt on the conclusions of intelligence agencies that Russia was responsible.
My God, the ghost of Izzy Stone is back from the 1950s! Stone wrote. For that matter, so is Tom Clancy from the 80s. False thrillers will now be written about the Russians hacking the American elections. Money and TV serials will be made. Ive never read such hysterical junk in the New York Times (call it what it is fake news), in which the editorials have become outrageous diatribes of alleged crimes by Russia, many of them presumably written by Serge Schmemann, one of those ideologues who still looks for Russians under his bed at night; they were called White Russians in the old days and, like right-wing Cubans in Miami, are unable to live down past grievances. Schmemann is obviously riding high at the NYT edit board. This type of thinking has clearly influenced the Pentagon and many of our Generals statements, and has pervaded MSM reporting. When one group-think controls our national conversation, it becomes truly dangerous.
He warned that the rush to blame Putin could have consequences for the way that Trump responds.
As much as I may disagree with Donald Trump (and I do) hes right now target number one of the MSM propaganda until, that is, he jumps to the anti-Kremlin track because of some kind of false intelligence or misunderstanding cooked up by CIA, he wrote. Then I fear, in his hot-headed way, he starts fighting with the Russians, and it wouldnt be long then until a state of war against Russia is declared.
He urged readers to stay calm in your thinking. He also accused the New York Times of evaded any contrary evidence that others may be to blame for the hacking of the Democratic National Committee, such as an insider who was disgusted by the way the party apparatus was being run.
On Thursday, President Barack Obama announced a series of sanctions against Russia stemming from the intelligence committee conclusions. Trump, meanwhile, praised Putin on Friday for not immediately responding to the new sanctions. Great move on delay (by V. Putin) I always knew he was very smart! Trump tweeted.

Hack, hack, hack. Who hacked? Who cares? Address the content of those emails, not who might have hacked them. It’s a simple attempt at diversion by liberals.
I went back and checked.
This GARBAGE about Russia started hit FR around 10/8/16 and we have been calling BULLSHIT on it ever since.
I’m not sure which crop of Wikileaks emails had just hit, but the argument back then was: “MAYBE THE RUSSIANS MODIFIED THESE. THEY CAN’T BE TRUSTED.”
The story morphed several times.
Oliver Stone does not need to worry about Trump or his supporters EVER falling for these Democrat/MSM lies.
They just like that narrative. He crazy! He’s unhinged! He’s impulsive! They shovel that crap out to the left-wing masses who eat it up with a spoon. That it has no bearing on reality doesn’t concern them.
If anyone was unhinged, it is the drama-anger machine called HRC.
From Oliver Stone no less. Color me shocked.
To be clear, he is siding with the Russians. That has not changed.
At first the Russian hack story was just political theater by losers who can’t admit they lost. Now we see the theater moving towards actual war with nuclear armed Russia. Even the most staunch lefties are going to begin to say, “Whoa.” Now we’ve got loon’s like McInsane actually suggesting war with Russia. This could all spin out of control.
A person who thinks everything occurs because of US government conspiracy is bound to get it right eventually.
This will have a substantial impact on the left.

The world awaits release of the first small bit of factual proof that the Russian government actually had anything to do with the DNC/Podesta eMails or the election itself.
Waiting...
Waiting.....
Yes, and military people lost faith a long time ago.
Very true. Now one could say it's reached McCain levels of insanity.

Besides, Anthony Wiener’s computer was ...
How about aovie about this election. Wag the Hacker. Would have to be a comedy.
Those who are sincere about their disgust with wars we had no business in since VN do not support the war mongering of O and hillary. Some although they did not endorse Trump, didn't endorse hillary, either. An example is Kucinich.
My point? There's an element among liberals who are probably not displeased the warmongers are being swept out of DC and people who know something about the military will be making responsible decisions.
And “Platoon Bravo Company” was Robert Hemphill’s, Stone’s company commander’s story. Decidedly broader, and taking in the experience from a combat leader’s experience.
Don’t worry Olivier hardly anyone outside of your bubble is that interested in this story or believes or cares about it. Maybe it’s all the talk at Hollywood parties, but here in the real world we know the truth.

I’ll wait to see the Oliver Stone film version of it.
“...Wag the Hacker. Would have to be a comedy.”
Excellent idea!
Stone is a talented filmmaker and has pretty good insight into the conspiratorial nature of the political apparati.
Personally, I hope his health holds out long enough for him to make many more films.
Oliver Sone is a Buddhist, and one of his sons converted to Shia Islam. We don’t agree on religion or a lot of politics, but he is not a typical Hollywierd liberal either.
