Cali seems to be right up there. Why might that be?

california is a wonderful place, rich with diversity and sanctuary to the unfortunate. Oh yeah, and a lot of car theft/rape/murder

Poor old Bakersfield.
Didn't win this one, but we did win #1 for dirtiest air in the US!

And most of those cities have high Mexican populations. Are we to make the connection?

This is almost a distinction without a difference with the top five cities eclipsing 500 cars per 100,000 population. But you can see the “Hispanic influence” in all cases, particularly with respect to California. Just hope Jim and John have a garage, what with Fresno at #7.
The City of Albuquerque acknowledges its high rate of auto theft on its website, noting New Mexicos shared border with Mexico gives car thieves added incentive because they can take the stolen vehicles across the border and sell them.
...
Sounds like a wall is needed.

All those poor illegal aliens got to have SOME way to get to the DC Metro area. They can’t fly, and ride sharing is so much more economical and environmentally friendlier. It’s easy to get a Kali license, too.

Shocking San Diego is not on that list. The saying was back when I lived there, that your vehicle would be in Mexico before you reported it stolen.

Other than Milwaukee, all are right on the I5.
Probably getting funneled directly to Mexico
