BTW-we already have “competition” within corporate run Houston ISD-I can apply for a magnet school based on Art,medical professions,Law Enforcement (note the push toward career clusters),etc.. I can also apply for a charter school like the Turkish Gulen chain called Harmony with their schtick being Science, Math,Technology (that they are Islamic-associated is no PROBLEM), or I may wish to send my child to an Arabic Immersion School. You CAN ALREADY avoid the public school in your neighborhood. What these Bill & Melinda Gates “Choice/Charter pushers are not letting you know is that schools will be run by NGO’s, Foundations, corps etc...to help funnel the kiddos into the global workforce to spin profits for the global economy.
The American Model was to provide an across the board liberal arts education in order to maintain a free society.
