Her mother, actress Debbie Reynolds, is still alive. So sad for the family.

Yes, really. Does death or the end of people and things I enjoyed have to be new for me to be sad about it?

Bad genetics and self destructive behavior doomed her- despite all her talent and success. She fought hard for her sanity. May God bless her poor tortured soul. She’s an icon forever now.

So sad — larger than life. I loved her in STAR WARS.
Hate to say, but when I heard she was unconscious, I already expected the worst, since my late brother similarly suffered a massive heart attack. He never regained consciousness.
RIP, Carrie.

I hate to throw cold water on the party, but it always bothers me when people mis-assign feelings.
The world did not love Carrie Fisher.
The world fell in love with a character that was created by George Lucas, and who spoke dialog written by him or someone else.
Its like thinking George C Scott was parroting Patton. In reality, he was speaking the words written by Francis Ford Coppola.
I am sure very few of her fans knew her well at all.
I know its nit picky thing to say. But lets be honest about what we are feeling sorry to lose.

Eddie Fisher sure screwed up big time. The country pretty much turned against him.
Yet he was just one more notch on the marriage/affairs ladder of Liz Taylor.
It may have given Debbie's career a deserved boost though

Shes an icon forever now.A cautionary tale about early success/money and drug abuse. She actually did "turn her life around" and tried to help others avoid the pitfalls of substance abuse.
Hollyweird is very hard on young people. She was only 18 or 19 in the first Star Wars, sort of like Princess Diana thrown to the wolves.
