~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Travis Air Force Base, California Travis Air Force Base is a United States Air Force air base under the operational control of the Air Mobility Command (AMC), located three miles east of the central business district of Fairfield, in Solano County, California, United States. The base is named for Brigadier General Robert F. Travis, who died in the crash of a B-29 Superfortress while transporting a nuclear weapon. Situated in the San Francisco Bay Area and known as the "Gateway to the Pacific", Travis Air Force Base handles more cargo and passenger traffic through its airport than any other military air terminal in the United States. Today, Travis AFB includes approximately 7,260 active USAF military personnel, 4,250 Air Force Reserve personnel and 3,770 civilians. The facility has undergone numerous anti-terror upgrades since 9/11/01 including extensive installation of crash barriers, inspection stations, and traffic controls at all base entry points. In September 2015, Nick Champi Enterprises of Hanford, California completed a 5-year project to install crash rated fencing, gates, and traffic controls at the main entrance to the facility.
In addition, the base's former Strategic Air Command Alert Facility is now a U.S. Navy complex that typically supports 2 transient Navy E-6B Mercury TACAMO aircraft assigned to Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron THREE (VQ-3) Detachment and normally home-based at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma. Air Mobility Command's mission is to provide global air mobility. The command also plays a crucial role in providing humanitarian support at home and around the world. AMC Airmen...active duty, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve, augmented by the civilian airliners and flight crews of the Civil Reserve Air Fleet (CRAF)...provide airlift and aerial refueling for all of the United States' armed forces. Many special duty and operational support aircraft (OSA) and stateside aeromedical evacuation missions are also assigned to AMC. Learn More About Travis Air Force Base HERE!! FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT~Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allies military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.
Please remember: The Canteen is a place to honor and entertain our troops. The Canteen is family friendly. Let's have fun! We pray for your continued strength, to be strong in the face of adversity. We pray for your safety, that you will return to your families and friends soon. We pray that your hope, courage, and dignity remain unbroken, so that you may show others the way. Oh BRRRRR! I guess after what you’ve dealt with lately, 35 WOULD feel balmy but the thought makes me shiver. LOL! It was 75 here yesterday and 66 today. That’s much more to this tropical lizard’s liking. :-)
But it won’t last. Cooling off later tonight but at least not into the 30s ........ yet.

Great road trip! Flew over Travis [or at least as close as we could get and not invade their space] in a helicopter with my son at the controls. Now, THAT was an experience! :)
Hope you and yours had a very....

Good evening, Kathy!

I hope you had a Happy Christmas. The Choir sang well and Midnight Mass was an appropriate commemoration of our Lord's Nativity.
Needless to say, both Mrs. MacNessa and I are exhausted after the last few days. Santa did stop and showered us with many gifts.

We did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 2 Peter 1:16
Raucous laughter marked the guests in my father’s hospital room: Two old truck drivers, one former country/western singer, one craftsman, two women from neighboring farms, and me.
“...and then he got up and busted the bottle over my head,” the craftsman said, finishing his story about a bar fight.
Shape my words and phrases to share Your love.
The room bursts into laughter at this now-humorous memory. Dad, struggling for breath as his laughing fought with his cancer for the air in his lungs, puffs out a reminder to everybody that Randy is a preacher” so they need to watch what they say. Everything got quiet for about two seconds, then the whole room exploded as this news makes them laugh harder and louder.
Suddenly, about forty minutes into this visit, the craftsman clears his throat, turns to my dad, and gets serious. “No more drinking and bar fights for me, Howard. Those days are behind me. Now I have a different reason to live. I want to tell you about my Savior.”
He then proceeded to do just that, over my father’s surprisingly mild protests. If there’s a sweeter, gentler way to present the gospel message, I’ve never heard it.
My dad listened and watched, and some years later believed in Jesus too.
It was a simple testimony from an old friend living a simple life, reminding me again that simple isn’t naïve or stupid; it’s direct and unpretentious.
Just like Jesus. And salvation.
Go and make disciples of all nations. Matthew 28:19

We had a great Christmas, thanks! Some of our family are far from the eyes but remain near to the heart at this time as always.
I hope you had a great Christmas as well!

Yuck, more snow. Glad it’s up there and not down here. BRRR! We’re expecting rain later tonight and through most of the week. We’ll take all we can get!
Glad y’all had a good time this weekend and that you were all able to be together.
Now you need to hustle to get your business finished so you can see your sister next weekend. :-)
My only outing today was to take Jade to the vet for a couple of shots. Just puttering through a little housework was the rest of the day’s “fun”.

Glad you had a great Christmas but it’s shame some of the family weren’t able to be there. My family’s all scattered so I know what it’s like.
Had a quiet but good Christmas here. The highlight for me was it being so warm. LOL! I’m not a winter person at all.

Weeeeeeeellllll, it’s a little better but it’s not as comfy as the one I sat in at the store. It always seems to work out that way though. I wish they’d let me just buy the chair I try out. I’ll pay extra to cover them having to assemble a new one but they never go for it.
