Best to keep firing. Some years ago I caught cab home from the airport. The driver said he was on semi-permanent leave from the police department because he had been shot in the ankle by a drug dealer with a .22 cal. pistol. He said the autopsy on the shooter revealed he already had been shot through the lungs and heart with 00 buck but, kept on firing.

The rule should be, never pull that orange identifier from your otherwise realistic BB gun. Then, if a prospective victim shoots you, it's his fault, because you only had a non-lethal BB gun. /S

Of course, then the ones with real guns would start painting orange rings around the end of the barrels....
