State education chief Tom Torlakson on Wednesday urged school districts to declare themselves “safe havens” that avoid seeking the immigration status of students and suggested that they follow the lead of the Sacramento City Unified School District.
The state superintendent of public instruction issued a letter late Wednesday asking districts not to rely on “documents related to immigration status” when enrolling students.

Yeah, Liberals are all brave, compassionate, and super generous... as long as they are using OTHER people’s money. If they are violating federal law I expect that federal funding should be terminated. Want to continue to posture? Fantastic. Do it on your own dime!
They should CHANGE THE LAW or ENFORCE THE LAW. They control the California legislature! If they’re so sure that this is what the people want, MAKE IT THE LAW OF THE LAND; don’t just keeping IGNORING THE LAWS THEY THEMSELVES MADE. What a bunch of subversive jerks!

Proof of Residence Requirements
Students who attend school in Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD) must reside within its boundaries on a full-time permanent basis, that is, seven days and seven nights. If you are registering your child with us for the first time, or have changed your residence since registering, you will need to verify that your child still resides within the PAUSD boundaries and you must provide new proof of residence to Central Attendance as indicated below.
If you move to a different school area after initial registration, your date of registration will change. If you move within the same school attendance area, your date of registration will remain the same.
At the time of registration, you must present ONE document from EACH category below. ORIGINAL documentation is required and copies are not accepted. Utility (PG&E, water, etc), or telephone bills are NOT VALID residency verification documents.
Post Office boxes do not meet residency requirements. Only street addresses are accepted. (see full registration requirements).

Almost as important as their immigration status is their non-existant vaccination records. I wonder hpw much fake records like that cost.
This is different, California isn't merely passively failing to check citizenship, they want to ACTIVELY prevent, block and impede federal officials from performing their lawful duties.
They are admitting outright that they will put American citizens at risk for terrible debilitating diseases for the sake of political correctness.

That is silly. Schools cannot ask about immigration status. There is no reason for Feds to ask schools about something they already are forbidden from tracking by the US Supreme Court. This is political grandstanding. Or ignorance on display. But maybe I am ignorant. Heh.
Hmmm. I wasn’t even allowed to finish the day in high school because we had unknowingly moved a few blocks outside of the designated district in California.
But Noooooooooo!
He has to publicly and notoriously insist that FEDERAL officials be prevented from doing their lawful jobs.
He is apparently willing to use school cops to bar Federal official from entering school property at the point of a gun.
How is this not sedition?
