From AP Gun manufacturers have the right to present evidence supporting their claim that technology does not exist to comply with a California law requiring new models of semi-automatic handguns to stamp identifying information on bullet casings, a state appeals court said Thursday.
The ruling by the 5th District Court of Appeals in Fresno overturned a lower court ruling rejecting a lawsuit by two firearms trade associations that challenged the law.

“revolvers”
Revolvers are very easy to make.
Revolvers can shoot off a bullet with each squeeze of the trigger.
“Gun control” advocates should also realize that semi-automatic and automatic weapons can be made that use compressed natural gas or propane as a propellant.
Civilian gun power is a basic scientific fact that can’t be legislated away.
Make our own arms? Yes, we can.
Ask not how guns can be controlled, but how government can be properly restrained.

The "idea" is that the 'micro-stamp' would be applied to the base of the ejected case, usually with the some kind of magical imprint by the firing pin.
It is expected that the case would then be ejected by the the gun, and left behind for the super detectives to discover. Kali gun grabbers have watched TV. They know how these things work.
Revolvers don't eject. They haven't gotten the memo.

Yup. The assholes who write this stuff should learn about the topic. Furthermore, anyone can file the etching off the firing pin. We’re surrounded by morons.

Go to a police range, pick up the brass, and scatter it around crime scenes. Forensics will go nuts.
We're surrounded by morons.

There is no need to do so right now. But IF microstamping were implemented by a gun manufacturer, the only remotely feasible method currently available for placing a unique mark on a shell casing (or, more accurately, the primer)would be via micro-engraving of each individual firing pin.

Technically, a bullet casing is a jacket or half-jacket applied to the projectile itself.
Back in the day, it was known as "swaging" as people made their own jacketed bullets, generally with the body of a spent shell . . .
These days the jacketed bullets are so cheap, it's not worth the trouble.
But I THINK they mean the cartridge case or shell.

The production and tooling costs for that would be astronomical.
Everybody will just go back to casting their own.

What does a revolver have to do with it?Another clueless anti-gun fanatic heard from.
I do not now nor have I ever owned a handgun of any type. That is no bar to learning and knowing about them, before making a fool of myself.
So I know the answer to that question.

I wasn’t an a$$hole about it Mr. knowitall. It’s still stamped and may be during reloading it would be the same exact issue. The bullet is not stamped the primer is stamped thus the title was mislabeled. A stamped bullet wouldn’t matter whether it was a revolver or a semi, or a derringer for that matter.
There are some real goobers out here.

I know it wouldn’t take much filing, but I would be concerned about shortening it out of spec.

Yep. Basically, everything is about control over people's pleasures, whether it be hunting, heating a house, growing a garden, driving wherever one pleases, saying whatever one wants, running a business the way you want, making a profit. Anything that is an exercise of free will, reason, independence and happiness is controlled, sort of like a medieval religious dictatorship.

Gummint has created these fantastic new paper images that we use for money; having such characteristics that makes them extremely HARD to counterfeit.
Great job folks!
And then they leave the OLD ones in circulation!
