A Conservative Defense of Transgender Rights (National Review)
National Review ^ | 12/17/2016

Posted on 12/21/2016 6:42:08 AM PST by Altura Ct.

Kentucky governor Matt Bevin said last week that he hopes the Kentucky legislature won’t consider a transgender-bathroom bill in the upcoming legislative session; according to Bevin, “the last thing we need is more government rules.” He’s absolutely right, and I think it’s worth offering a conservative defense of transgender rights — which ought to be a conservative issue.

On the American political spectrum, conservatism is the mind-your-own-business ideology. I know smoking is unhealthy, but I enjoy smoking, and my health is none of your business. I know motorcycles can be dangerous, but I like the wind in my hair; whether or not I wear a helmet is none of your business. I realize that fireworks can blow up before they’re supposed to, but they’re fun and my fingers are none of your business. Don’t tell me what sort of car to drive, or what kind of light bulb I can buy, or what kind of milk I can drink, or how to raise my kids.

There’s a reason, when push comes to shove, most libertarians vote Republican. The Republican party is — more often than not, and should invariably be — the party of individual liberty. So conservatives have to ask, is it a good idea to empower the government to start lifting up people’s skirts?

The response, from many conservatives, is that it’s not a question of interfering with personal freedom — the freedom to live one’s own life however he’d like — but of preserving personal freedom — that is, the freedom to go to the bathroom among only people of the same biological sex. Allowing mixed-biological-sex bathrooms risks making adults uncomfortable, and risks opening the door to child predators, or so the argument goes. I’m afraid neither of those positions strikes me as well thought-out. Certainly not from a conservative point of view.

Unfortunately, the door is already open to child predators. So long as there are public bathrooms, bad people will use them (if for no other reason than evacuation). If child predators using your kids’ bathroom is your concern, you should be worrying about the male predators in the boys’ bathroom right now, not the male predators who might claim to be transgendered to get into the girls’ bathroom. (Or vice versa.)

Furthermore, it is a fundamental position of American conservatism that you don’t penalize innocent people in anticipation of criminal activity. It’s not my fault, as someone who wants a gun for self-defense, that someone else may want a gun to shoot his neighbor. Crime prevention does not preempt my right to self-defense. It’s not my fault, as someone who wants to contribute to a candidate he supports, that someone else might contribute to a candidate in order to buy political influence. Crime prevention does not preempt my right to political speech.

I don’t know exactly what is causing this upsurge in “trans” but it ain’t natural.

The upsurge in "trans" and other sexually oriented psychological disorders is being caused by the Hollywood media and the New York Media. Both groups are presenting the condition as "normal" and "protected" and it is the latest chic fad.

You may not be aware of this, but when the movie "Silence of the Lambs" came out, it landed on the homosexual community of Los Angeles like an atom bomb. The queers were furious that a movie studio portrayed homosexuals in such a perverted and sick manner, and they threw a fit about it. (Obviously homosexual serial killer murdering women to make a "woman" suit so that he could pretend he was a woman.)

They demanded and got veto power over scripts for movies and television programs. Hollywood literally created a review board of Homosexuals to censor scripts that portrayed homosexuals in a bad light.

The board went from censoring scripts to advancing scripts which were designed to portray "gay" in a good light.

This is how we got such shows as "Glee" which is nothing more than "hip" young homosexual propaganda.

These shows do not cover the diseases, the suicides, and other serious issues surrounding the "gay" lifestyle. They simply make it appear "cool" to be "gay."

So if you want to know why there is lately so much attention being devoted to "trans", it's because of the constant stream of pro-homosexual propaganda eminating from Los Angeles and to a lesser degree from New York.

They control the airwaves, and the airwaves have been broadcasting this sh*t for quite a long time.

A friend’s daughter/son is transgender and never had a problem with public bathrooms as an adult. Just uses the stall with the door. If there is only one, he just waits until one is available.

If it has a "y" chromosome, it is male down to the very last cell. Insanity should not be indulged by referring to a mentally ill male as "she" or "her." It is not female in any sense of the concept.

People don’t have a right to froth at the mouth, run around naked, or disturb the peace by being generally crazy and weird.

To my understanding most of the men who claim they are actually women never get any surgery and remain attracted to women. So it isn’t like letting only gay men use the women’s bathrooms or changing areas. It’s also allowing men who are attracted to women use the women’s facilities.

Libs reject that there are differences between desires of the two sexes. There is a reason lesbians don’t prowl public restrooms and parks at three in the morning for free anonymous guaranteed sex. Only gay men do this. Straight men would, but straight women just aren’t into it. It’s bad enough straight men have to deal with this nonsense in their exclusive areas, but at least they are other men.

Sadly, it was way back in the 70’s when the American Psychiatric Association redefined ‘homosexual’ as a ‘variation on normal’. I have always wondered why they did that.

I will tell you why they did that. In the early seventies, virtual armies of homosexuals were showing up at their meetings and threatening them with violence in order to pressure them into voting to remove homosexuality from the list of mental disorders.

These homosexuals were calling their offices, calling their houses, sending them threatening letters and verbally threatening them as well.

Many psychiatrists decided that it was safer for them to vote homosexuality off the list of mental disorders than to leave things as they were, and so they did.

Homosexuality *IS* a mental disorder, and the only reason it is no longer listed as such was because of violent threats made towards the APA back in the 1970s.

Look it up. There are plenty of sources to confirm what I told you. Here is one.

Am dealing with the same issue, farther along.

These kids are doing exactly what the media, the TV, the films, the books, and the internet are telling them to do.

I shudder to think of what the Game of Thrones and Walking Dead are telling them.

Leftists are killing our culture.

The rigidly of thought out there is remarkable among the young.

I know that people are wondering about folate and autism.

I am wondering about ultrasounds and brain rigidity and autism.

We are being told about research using ultrasound to help in Alzheimer’s, but we are not told what ultrasound is doing to the developing baby.

It is one thing to be mentally ill. It is quite another to demand that everyone else participate in your insanity.

I think we are missing the point here.

The whole who can use what bathroom as defined by law does have me questioning our conservative views on liberty and freedom.

The left freaks out that we want to be able to carry firearms. We counter with that as long as we aren’t using the firearm to break any laws (and that we have a constitutional right to bear arms) we should be left alone.

The right freaks out that a dude - more often than not dressed like a woman - wants to go pee in the ladies room. They counter with that as long as he/she/it isn’t doing anything illegal (and that there is a constitutional right to privacy) he/she/it should be left alone.

Both actions assume the best in people. The person carrying the firearm will not shoot people. The person using the ladies room will not molest people.

The opposite side assumes the worst. The left thinks anyone “crazy” enough to want to carry a gun is going to use it in a violent way - and besides, guns make them very, very nervous. The right thinks that anyone “crazy” enough to dress like a woman is going to molest people - and besides, men dressed like women make us very, very nervous.

As a person on the right, I do not agree that the constitution has a right to privacy in it.

A person on the left will argue that the 2nd Amendment doesn’t guarantee the individual right to bear arms.

Anyway...when I want to cut the Gordian knot, I use a sword called liberty. I would hope my conservative brothers and sisters would do the same...

Personally, I think when boys and girls go through puberty the hormones - male and female - get a little mixed up one way or another before straightening out. Not exactly a scientific fact, just a suspicion. Match that ordinary experience with a culture that is degraded enough to promote homosexuality as a natural state, you get mixed up kids thinking they’re the opposite sex. Very mixed up kids.

I have no recollection of any such "confusion" when I went through puberty. Before puberty I paid no attention to girls. They were not interesting because they shared none of my interests. After puberty, they were extremely interesting and I couldn't explain why. Something just "happened" to me and suddenly I couldn't stop looking at them and thinking about them. This obsession with females has annoyed me ever since.

What is this "confusion" that I hear people speaking about? The young males of my acquaintance have no "confusion" at all, and never did. Are there really people who have "confusion" , and are there really so many of them that people see this as a relatively common thing?

This idea is simply contrary to my experience. I suspect that in the cases where people have seen this "confusion" there are some other factors present of which they may not be aware.

I am so sick of these groups claiming that they don’t have “rights.”

Same with marriage. I have the right to marry any woman that will have me. Any man does.

“The whole who can use what bathroom as defined by law does have me questioning our conservative views on liberty and freedom.”

What about the whole ‘can private businesses choose who they allow in their sex-exclusive areas on their own properties’ aspect?

You make a very good point. Over the years I have noticed quite a few instances in which "transgenders" do not follow the behavior pattern of females. For one thing, they still behave like males in terms of their "sex drive." Females are generally not obsessed with soliciting sex, but queers and transgenders are. In other words, they act like males, but dress like females.

They generally don't adopt female behavioral patterns. They adopt female appearances (to the extent that they can) but they don't actually conduct themselves the way a female would. They sometimes try to "act" female, but they do it by parroting and copying what they see, rather than acting from instinct.

God didn’t make a mistake, she did. She fell prey to what’s considered “cool” as teens are so prone to do. God will condemn those who manipulated her so, and will condemn her if she doesn’t realize her error and change her ways.

Exactly. No matter how they are chemically altered or cut up, or whatever they claim to be, a man will still have desires like a man and not a woman, no matter the object of their desire.

And when you add the concept of ‘gender fluid’ to the equation then you make it that much easier for sicko men to go get their rocks off in women’s exclusive areas. They can just say they felt like a woman after they drove to the mall or wherever and didn’t have their female rig with them. Not that dressing like a woman should really make it a difference in policy, but at least it was some kind of low barrier for sex freaks to get over if they wanted to hang out in women’s areas. Also, I bet the number of men that would do this is way higher as a % than the % of gay men.

The right thinks that anyone “crazy” enough to dress like a woman is going to molest people - and besides, men dressed like women make us very, very nervous.

According to various medical studies, about 40% of homosexuals admit to being molested as children. Additionally, 40% of all molestations involve an adult male molesting boys. Adult homosexuals make up about 2% of the population, yet about 40% of all child molesters would appear to be homosexual.

Given the actual facts backing up homosexual tendencies to molest children, is it not rational to be concerned that transgenders (just another form of homosexuality) might molest children if given the opportunity?

Let me flip the script a bit. Have you ever heard of "Chastity Bono"? (Sonny and Cher's daughter.)

Did you know she was repeatedly molested as a young girl by the lesbian baby sitter with whom her mother entrusted her while she went on tour? What do you suppose happens to a little girl that is sexually molested for years by an adult female?

This is what happens.

National Review committed suicide publically and officially this year.

They are “of the beltway for beltway and ONLY the beltway.”

They are running to the left to try and survive because they are trying to solicit leftist money.
