Donald Trump's Cabinet a boon for conservatives
CNN ^ | Dec. 20, 2016 | Stephen Collinson

Donald Trump might have been a conservative hiding in plain sight this whole time.

The President-elect, who ran on populism rather than ideology and was once viewed as a political apostate by many conservatives, might represent the movement's most significant governing moment since Ronald Reagan.

Trump is assembling a conservative dream team of domestic Cabinet appointments that promises to move swiftly to dismantle the Obama administration's legacy in health care, education, labor and environmental policy. They will be aided by a Republican-controlled House and Senate that will coordinate on legislation.

"I think most conservatives are pretty pleasantly surprised," said Matt Lewis, a CNN commentator and author of "Too Dumb to Fail: How the GOP Betrayed the Reagan Revolution to Win Elections (and How It Can Reclaim its Conservative Roots)."

TRUMP is a egomaniac

He will want to be the best Republican President in the History of the U.S.

So we shouldn't worry about him turning Liberal & disappointing Conservatives

He'll probably defund Planned Parenthood soon =P

Nonsensical comparison. The Berlin Wall was built to divide a country, to keep people from leaving East Berlin. The wall between the USA and Mexico will protect our national sovereignty from invaders.

Many doubtful conservatives made a bet that President Trump would be better than a tyrant like Hillary. It seems like acceptable odds at the time, and today it seems like the best bet imaginable.

But... but... but... a year ago FReepers were saying Trump is NOT a conservative! He’s a buffon with a funny looking orange toupee and his 15 minutes of fame will be over soon.

For sure. Unethical people cannot be considered conservative. When you swear a pledge, you are expected to honor it.

How can this be?

The paragon of conservatism (sarc), National Review, told me that “Trumpism” was anything but conservative.

“I do have to give Reagan the benefit of the doubt. It is hard to tell Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin wall and support our own wall at the same time”

Do you walk to work or carry your lunch?

Two entirely different scenarios. The Berlin Wall was erected to keep people from fleeing communist slavery. The Trump wall will keep the middle class from becoming slaves to the NWO.

The two walls have totally different purposes. The Berlin Wall was to keep an oppressed population in. The border wall is to keep illegal aliens out.

An East Berliner could not enter West Berlin.

A Mexican will still be free to enter the United States at the ports of entry.

It's hard to believe a FReeper would make such an asinine comparison; on the level of "marriage = rape" asinine.

Some walls are meant to keep people in. Others are meant to keep people out.

Trump will govern as an American. As the old Superman line he’s for “truth, justice, and the American way”. Liberals and leftists are for lies, just-us, and the globalist way. The American way that makes sense and is truth-based happens to called “conservatism”.

The source site for this is CNN. I’m surprised it doesn’t say something like “Trump agrees to produce video of toddlers playing with puppies being burned alive with flaming gasoline” or some such extreme nonsense.
