Here is another question - why do the Germans, who are stereotypically known as people who like order, efficiency, intelligence, industriousness, high achievement, cleanliness, and their Germanic heritage and ethnicity, want the Third World rabble invading their country who are pretty much none of the above to live and be on the dole in their country? Like Sweden, and unlike the USA, they were a homogenous country and seemed to like things that way. What happened?
Guys. While it is true that Germans have over the past generations had a very paternalistic society of obeying fathers,bosses, etc, right now I am seeing the German people from their comments in their media sounding like freepers. Some Americans wanted Hillary and.love Obama. The number is more than a freeper can believe! Same there with merkel. There are plenty of Germans who feel like we do.
If they come down hard on the new 'migrants", they are afraid they will be seen as no different from their grandfathers.

Marginalizing any Euros who oppose immigration policies as neo Nazis seems to be a very effective tactic in most of Europe, and especially in Germany.
Some stereotypes are true, of course. Like when I would park illegally in a city in Germany. Some passer by would come and shout at me, “You can’t park there! It’s not allowed!” Whereas doing the exact same thing in France, a passer by would come by and conspiratorially tell me, “Hey, be careful, there’s a cop just around the corner.” Stereotypes but it still happens sometimes.

They were talked out of Christianity. They have given up their humanity. Christ is dead to the Germans.
The Germans carry an enormous burden of guilt for starting two world wars in one century. They are deeply ashamed of the Holocaust and their general treatment of people they conquered in WWII. We hang out with a generation zero German family. They can hardly look into our eyes when these things enter conversation. Conversation about this comes easy because they seem to want to confess sins that they did not commit themselves. It will take a long time for Germans to overcome this self torment.
MNJohnie-you are exactly correct in my opinion. We have several friends in Germany. We ask them why they put up with this? They shrug and say “it’s what the govt. wants to do and we do not question it”. Another one said “maybe something good will come from all of this”.
Just chilling to hear them say this.
They are suffering under self-imposed reparations for past sins, desperately trying to prove their humanity by reaching out to people in need.
