My dad did have to have his hearing testing regularly. It always checked out fine, but my mother was skeptical.

That has been one of Dad’s common replies. When he was younger, I’m pretty sure it had something to do with “selective deafness.” I have been diagnosed with that too.

These days, his hearing isn’t so good. I don’t know if that is from having worked for 40 years around jet engines, or from being 89 years old.
