Left-wing Jewish group warns Trumps reported pick for deputy secretary of state is hostile to the notion of diplomacy itself; Rand Paul also threatens to block nomination.
Liberal Jewish group J Street spoke out aggressively Monday night against former US ambassador to the UN John Bolton, amid reports that he is President-elect Donald Trumps preferred choice for deputy secretary of state.
Political sources told NBC that Bolton, the firebrand diplomat who served as George W. Bushs envoy to the world body between 2005-2006, would be tasked with day-to-day management of the State Department under the chosen secretary currently expected to be Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson.
But while J Street appeared wary of Tillerson, saying it expected the Senate to question him vigorously in hearings it was outright livid over Bolton, asserting that he was a completely inappropriate choice for deputy secretary of state, or any role related to Americas relations with the rest of the world.
Boltons long track-record shows to him to be hostile to the notion of diplomacy itself, the organization said. He is an unabashed advocate for premature, unnecessary and dangerous use of military force in the Middle East and around the globe.
It claimed Boltons tenure at the UN is widely viewed as an embarrassing and damaging period for our country, and has been widely denounced by American diplomats who have served under both Republican and Democratic administrations.
Allowing Bolton to reenter the global stage would greatly set back American diplomacy, our countrys national standing, foreign policy and security interests of the United States and our allies, including Israel.
Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky also said he would oppose Boltons nomination, telling ABC News he was an automatic no on Bolton, adding that He should get nowhere close to the State Department.

Based on the response, Bolton sounds perfect for Deputy.
I don’t think they can block deputy anything, can they?
AS usual, lots of insults and accusations but not a shred of evidence put forth to back any of them up.
We need people who are firebrands who shake up the status quo. Why? Because the status quo isn’t in the best interests of the United States.
Exactly, what better recommendation for Bolton can there be than the horror of leftists, Jewish or not.

really?
I don’t think I could tell you who has been deputy sos during the obammy/hildabeast regime.
What is wrong with Rand?
J Street can pound sand
Who believes the Deputy requires confirmation?
The louder the left objects, the easier it becomes to make the correct decision.
Every single step Trump takes will be the height of sophistication. It will be well thought out and will further the goal of MAGA. Each single step will be fought by the forces of darkness as if it were the end of their world, as indeed it will be.
No...Bolton would clean out the State Department, which desperately needs a thorough cleaning. That has J Street and the entrenched bureaucrats there messing their britches.

I can't argue with them on this point. I've been saying for years that Bolton is a globalist war merchant who shouldn't be allowed anywhere in a Republican administration in Washington.
He is disliked by many because they see him as a neocon. I’m not sure that he is really a neocon. I see him as a firebrand. Someone who is ruthless in pursuit of and the protection of American interests but that doesn’t mean he wants to nuke the world.
