A dam is on the verge of collapse and just a partial breach could create a wave 82ft high, experts have warned.
The Mosul dam is slowly sinking, sparking fears that 7 million lives are at risk if it breaks.
Even if just 26 per cent of the dam collapsed there would be floods on a catastrophic scale with the equivalent of 4,400 Olympic-sized swimming pools gushing down stream.
It would hit Mosul at 82ft high 100 minutes after breaching the wall and then three and a half days later it would destroy Baghdad with a 26ft wave.
Cities, towns, villages and farmland along 434 miles of the River Tigris would be flooded, according to the European Commission's Science Centre.
The dam is 37 miles away from Mosul where Iraqi forces are currently battling with Isis.
It has been put under the protection of Italian soldiers and Kurdish troops for the last 18 months while engineers have been working on saving the dam.

Do you mean “rusted shut”?
Mosul IS Nineveh. I drove past the remains of the city walls many times. The Nabi Yunis mosque apparently held the tomb of Jonah—before ISIS thugs destroyed it with sledgehammers, that is.
What’s the bad news?
Most of Mosul and Baghdad are not along the Tigris. It would be ugly, but to suggest the entirety of both cities would be destroyed is nonsense.
Revelation 12:15?
Thank you for the clarification.
Let it flood. Let it all flood.
One can be optimistic, though!
I think of it as God flushing the toilet.
That would be the Mulholland Dam. And everyone is familiar with the South Fork Dam that collapsed and caused the historic Johnstown Flood.
Pieces of the Mulholland Dam are still visible in the flood path, and the South Fork Dam is still standing ... less a large section from its middle.
Great movie.
Just like skipping stones on a pond
Nineveh summons her picked troops,
yet they stumble on their way.
They dash to the city wall;
the protective shield is put in place.
6 The river gates are thrown open
and the palace collapses.
7 It is decreed[f] that Nineveh
be exiled and carried away.
Her female slaves moan like doves
and beat on their breasts.
8 Nineveh is like a pool
whose water is draining away.

Nice graphic, thanks.
The riverbed being dry after it breaks and armies marching through on their way to Armageddon springs to my mind.
Lancasters!!!!
:)
So sad that he turned out to be what it seems like he was. He was a huge part of my childhood.
That’s what I was planning on referring to. It could be a double (repeat) prophesy.
The effect would like be flushing a toilet on a grand scale. Goodbye waste!

This dam has been “on the verge of collapsing” for several years now.
Looks like it’s never going to.
