You just knew this was coming… Republican leader Mitch McConnell warned today he will not pass Donald Trump’s tax cuts.

Senate Majority Leader McConnell has a different plan. Bloomberg.com reported:

President-elect Donald Trump’s race to enact the biggest tax cuts since the 1980s went under a caution flag Monday as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell warned he considers current levels of U.S. debt “dangerous” and said he wants any tax overhaul to avoid adding to the deficit.

“I think this level of national debt is dangerous and unacceptable,” McConnell said, adding he hopes Congress doesn’t lose sight of that when it acts next year. “My preference on tax reform is that it be revenue neutral,” he said.

How about 15% and more spending cuts? Ryan knows the budget. He can do better than the ‘Penny plan’

My preference on tax reform is that it be revenue neutral,” he said.

How about spending that is revenue neutral, i.e., a balanced budget.

Reagan showed that tax cuts rev up the economy and INCREASE government revenue (tax receipts). Reagan said he got the idea from JFK, who got it from Konrad Adenauer, who got it from Herbert Hoover, who got it from Alexander Hamilton, who got it from Joseph in Genesis.

Deporting all the illegals, cracking down on benefits fraud and forcing those people into the workforce, de-funding sanctuary cities, redirecting spending from giveaways to infrastructure projects with taxpaying workers, reciprocal tariffs on imports, 35% tax on re-importing of outsourced American goods, etc.

Sounds like there will be plenty of spending cuts and new tax revenue to pay for tax rate cuts ... if dynamic scoring is used for the tax rate cuts vs. revenues calculation.

If they believed in dynamic scoring and the past effects of tax simplification with rate cuts, their demand for “revenue neutral” would give them a license for MORE SPENDING.

I am just as happy to see them demand spending cuts on the assumption that revenues will not increase. Unfortunately, I don’t think Mitch has any intention of allowing spending cuts. This is just a way to prevent tax reform and keep the slush fund pork barrel spending Mitch loves so well.

No problem, Turtle, I’m fine with tax cuts being revenue neutral.

Present your spending cuts.

Mitch McConnell warned he considers current levels of U.S. debt “dangerous”

He's right about that. And our 'unfunded liabilities' are a looming disaster.

and said he wants any tax overhaul to avoid adding to the deficit.

Spending cuts, Mitch. Welfare and "entitlement" programs need to be phased out to zero ... Regulatory agencies need a big cut in size, scope and power as well. If it's not in the Constitution, Mitch, DON'T DO IT!!!

The Republican Party needs to return to its historic Conservative protectionist roots. More tariffs and less income taxes.
