WASHINGTON (AP) — In claiming that he scored "a massive landslide victory" in last month's presidential election, Donald Trump turned history upside down.
In fact, his winning margin in the Electoral College is on the other end of the historical spectrum, far closer to the narrowest win in history than to the widest.
Speaking on "Fox News Sunday," Trump claimed that "We had a massive landslide victory, as you know, in the Electoral College." Hillary Clinton, he said, is "down to a very low number." He added that Democrats "suffered one of the greatest defeats in the history of politics in this country."
The final Electoral College margin was Trump 306, Clinton 232, for a winning percentage of just under 57 percent. That ranks this year's outcome as the 13th-closest of the 58 presidential elections in U.S. history, according to a tally by Claremont McKenna College political scientist John Pitney.

If HilLIARy had won with the EXACT SAME numbers, they would have been hailing this as a win of epic proportions, and proof she had a mandate to do whatever the hell she wanted.
In terms of the numbers, it wasn’t a big win mostly because the Democrat lost, where it would’ve been considered a landslide for being over 300.
In terms of ACTUAL LAND MASS, you can see what color the map was slidng to.
If the roles were reversed and Hillary! had won with Trump’s exact numbers, the AP wouldn’t stop cheering Hillary’s “landslide” for days!

Claiming a landslide is a political move, just like claiming a mandate. This is not a fact that can be checked, it is the opening move of a political pitch to get his agenda passed through Congress and embraced by the voters.
The AP seems to think that Trump should roll over and not pursue the agenda he ran on.
I remember well how the Ass. Press did a thorough fact check of every one of Obama’s utterances and Hillary Clinton’s statements.

This was more of an estimate than a solid figure. 68? 70? The valid point is that this was not a near miss for Clinton.
Which just goes to show you that "political scientists" aren't really scientists (and AP writers for that matter seem to have never taken Sophomore math): (((306-232)/232))*100)= 31.8%.
In other words, Donald Trump crushed Hillary by close to 32%. Not even close, OK?
Best to stick with simple objective data.
