The Canadian government approved a national carbon price on Friday after a heated discussion.

In a meeting attended by provincial representatives, aboriginal leaders, as well as United States Vice President Joe Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pushed the carbon-pricing plan he had been working on for months. […]

The plan calls for the cost of producing a ton of carbon pollution to rise 10 Canadian dollars ($7.60, €7.19) per year starting in 2018 until it reaches 50 Canadian dollars in 2022. In a compromise, the price would pause for British Columbia at 30 Canadian dollars in 2020.

Out of the 10 provinces, only Saskatchewan and Manitoba did not sign the agreement. Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall said the carbon price increase would make Canadian firms less competitive. …

Climate change scam is all about raising taxes and eliminating jobs.

The path Trump is determined to avoid here.

Canadians deserve Trudeau.

They have no right to complain when their quality of life is compromised by their government’s drive to make fossil fuels prohibitively expensive.

Well gee, Mr. Canadian government, I’m not sure why I need a price on carbon.

I’m certainly not going to buy it, because I produce it naturally by the process of respiration.

Plants then use atmospheric Carbon Dioxide in the process of photosynthesis to produce oxygen, which keeps us all alive.

It’s almost like a self perpetuating cycle of life that doesn’t want or need the help of greedy, money grubbing, power grubbing liberals to continue.

Gee, Canada, you guys are a bunch of complete f***ing idiots.

Grats!

Just raise the price of everything.

That will get Canada’s economy moving again.

Yep, that and spending their way out of debt should do it!

Hell, this month, instead of making a payment on my credit card, I’m going to triple my spending!

Alberta is saddled with a socialist government that signed the pact to kill its energy industry.

Nice work if you can get it.

To say the science is settled makes a mockery out of science. What they really mean is that the fad is focused, not that the science is settled.

We don’t even have a definitive explanation of why the ice ages of the globe. Has the solar output been fluctuating on that time scale? I don’t remember astrophysics having come up with an answer. But in the absence of one, we ought to be looking for an answer, since that would easily explain cyclical global temperature extremes. This might be something that a probe to another planet or the moon could answer, perhaps.

The BC carbon tax is “revenue neutral”. For every dollar raised through the carbon tax, general taxes have dropped by a dollar. That feature is it’s biggest selling point. It’s probably the “least worst” solution to the (non-problem) of climate change. (Of course, that doesn’t stop activists and compliant governments from also pushing all the worse-worst non-solutions as well.)

However, you’re right to be skeptical about carbon taxes. Other governments are doubtless considering how they can turn this into a tax grab. Self-proclaimed “environmentalists” are demanding to put the carbon-tax revenues into a fund earmarked for “green energy” projects. If they do that, their carbon taxes will not only be a tax grab — they will guarantee that most of the money is wasted.

(BTW — it’s important to note that the “BC Liberal Party” is just the latest iteration of the “Anybody but the NDP (socialists) Party”. It’s a coalition of all right-of-centre (i.e. B.C.’s centre) parties. It comprises supporters of both the federal Lieberal and the federal Conservatives parties.

Good, we’ll take BC, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario and the Maritimes; “Canada” can keep Quebec and the Newfies. Fair trade.

Right now I have that nasty, knotted feeling in the pit of my stomach - the feeling of being ruled by a man-child mere DAYS older than I am, for whom I did not vote...

A man-child, who has done LESS with his life than myself, and even the biggest losers and f**k-ups that I went to school with, but who is nevertheless my ‘leader’. It’s like I have to take orders from (No) Brainy Smurf.

But, according to my Mother, and all sorts of others of her age group, as well as the millennials, he’s so ‘dreamy’.
