On Monday, Native Americans conducted a forgiveness ceremony with U.S. veterans at the Standing Rock casino, giving the veterans an opportunity to atone for military actions conducted against Natives throughout history.

In celebration of Standing Rock protesters’ victory Sunday in halting construction on the Dakota Access Pipeline, Leonard Crow Dog formally forgave Wes Clark Jr., the son of retired U.S. Army general and former supreme commander at NATO, Wesley Clark Sr.

This was a historically symbolic gesture forgiving centuries of oppression against Natives and honoring their partnership in defending the land from the Dakota Access Pipeline.

No one should be proud of what Chivington’s people did at Sand Creek; he was, however, responsible for sounding defeating the Texas Confederate who attempted to invade Colorado.

There are way too many people living in this country with way too much free time on their hands. Hopefully, all of these “U.S. veterans” were given a five dollar slot machine credit at the casino.

Talk about “Snowflakes”. A friendly snowflake-laden blizzard sent the precious white millennial snowflakes running for the warmth of their parents’ basement.

A few diehard leftists at the encampment were given Indian names for their bravery, including “Chief Frozen Nuts”, “Brave with the frozen teepee”, “He who has to shake a tailfeather to keep from freezing”, “Squaw Frozen Solid”, and “White woman looks like Ivory Snow”.

Time to end this “sovereign nation” reservation idiocy and let them assimilate.

We look down on the Europeans for letting the muslims establish “No-Go” zones in their countries but what are the Indian reservations here in America?

LOL! Like it or not, we did massacre them and there were many who were just too mean and who enjoyed it.

Perhaps you think we should treat the illegal invaders of today with the utmost kindness and respect too and that we should not do what we need to do to push them out and seal the door.....

Would you like to comment on the condition of the bodies found at the Little Big Horn? Or in southern Minnesota after the Mankato Massacre?

There were predations aplenty on both sides.

This is enough to make me just want to barf.

It’s something on the order of this leftist crap similar to slave reparations.

I recall in the 80’s or so it was discovered many road side beggars claiming to be Vietnam Vets were fake. They were actually lefty draft dodgers posing as vets trying to scam the public for money. I wonder how many of these are genuine vets with honorable discharges?

Does that mean it’s over, and we can go on with our lives without worrying about what whose great-grandfather did to whose?

Of course not. Silly me.

“Custer was an arrogant fool that failed to asses the battle before engaging.

At the Little Big Horn, Custer believed — and with very good reason — that his force had been discovered. He also believed the village — which he had not yet seen — was going to scatter. His biggest screw-up was he didn’t believe his scouts when they told him the size of the village was enormous, and the biggest anyone had ever seen. He though t they were exaggerating. They weren’t.

So, believing he had been discovered, and believing the village was going to break up and scatter to the winds, he reasoned that his only option was to attack. After all, that is what cavalry was created for: To attack. Cavalry is a very poor force for defense, but was excellent for offense.

I’ve been a student of history my entire life (my degree is in history), especially the American West and the Indian Wars.

The Indians were not the stewards of the earth as Hollywood and romance fiction would have us believe: They were destructive, violent to the extreme, and cruel to the level of perversion.

Those veterans dont speak for me, dont apologize for me, dont act for me. They are self hating people suffering from some sort of delusions that they are important and making a difference.

I am reading a book about Red Cloud. I am just amazed how cruel the Indians were to the white settlers, to women, children and other Indians!

There was only one known case where Red Cloud did not kill a captive. He told the captured Indian that he could go home to his family that night if he did not make a sound while he was held by braves while being scalped. He did not make a sound. True to his word, Red Cloud did not have him killed, and he was allowed to leave. Nice guy, that Red Cloud!

The left chooses only to look at the atrocities of the whites (there were plenty), and ignore the bad activities of their brethren. It is at best, selective historical recall.

To be accurate, after the apology by the whites, the Indians should have apologized the the whites for the white people they massacred and terrorized, as well as the Indian tribes whose land they stole and braves they tortured and killed. Won't hold my breath, though.
