They couldn’t compete: Marxist sandwich store closes
Red Alert Politics ^

Bartertown Diner didn’t allow for bosses or managers and allowed for a living wage, and a strong union. It also apparently didn’t allow for enough profits to stay open.

Workers at Bartertown were able to decide the menu and business hours, creating odd times that confused customers. Many patrons complained that it took up to 40 minutes to get a sandwich.

Politics also caused fights between customers. Bartertown offered free food to police officers for keeping the community safe, which enraged socialists who hate cops. Additionally, their no tipping policy caused staff not to work as hard because there was no benefit.

Why can you no longer get steak?

Obama. Economy.

Nonetheless, I still eat fine - just fine.

I could get it more often - I just choose not to, often because of the prices. If I dine out, it’s chicken, burgers, tacos - often fast food (saves on the tip money, frankly).

And you’ll like this part - my last steak, about January, 2015, was at .......... (drumroll) ..... Applebees. LOL, Somebody gave me $30 worth of gift cards they would never use (the nearest Applebees was about 2 hours away from where they were).

But yes, I DID get steamed broccoli on the side. Just got back a couple days ago, a friend’s chicken restaurant. It’s actually famous. The owner called me at dinner while I was sitting there (texted him that we were coming). It’s within the normal pricing but of course, a bit more than fast food so it’s a rare event. (takes a little time to get there, too).

Thanks.

I don’t ever cook steak for myself but my son grills steak and steak tips quite a bit——and often invites me.

I make myself meatloaf quite a bit because I love it,and I eat a lot of chicken.

I don’t know how people feed families these days-——must be difficult.

It’s best served on chromed dishes...because there’s no plate like chrome for the hollandaise.

I just finished eating some hot yeast bread fresh out of the oven, so I’m stuffed, but that sounds yummy, anyway.

Homegrown asparagus is another matter.

My daughter had some of mine, which I had just picked moments before she cooked and ate it and she told me that it set the bar REALLY, REALLY high.

Find an asparagus farm and pick your own fresh, or grow it yourself.

What a treat!

Blender hollandaise sauce is easiest to make. I use a pinch of cayenne pepper.

It is sort of like making mayonnaise in a blender. blending yolks, pepper and fresh lemon juice and then adding melted butter slowly. There are several recipes on the net. I use the Joy of Cooking recipe.

Sounds like the sandwich shop was a version of any Communist country on the planet. I bet if someone opened a ‘Free Market’ sandwich shop, it will succeed.

Change in urine odor after eating asparagus does not happen to everyone.

“Depending on which study you read, between 22% and 50% of the population report having pungent pee after eating asparagus. But that doesn’t mean only some people’s bodies generate that smell. Researchers believe that, during digestion, the vegetable’s sulfurous amino acids break down into smelly chemical components in all people. And because those components are “volatile,” meaning airborne, the odor wafts upward as the urine leaves the body and can be detected as soon as 15 minutes after you eat this spring delicacy.

But only about one-quarter of the population appears to have the special gene that allows them to smell those compounds. So the issue isn’t whether or not your pee is smelly; it’s whether you’re able to smell it. If you smell a funny fragrance in your urine after you eat asparagus, you’re not only normal, you have a good nose.”
