BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) -- Hundreds of houses of worship are offering sanctuary to people who could face deportation if President-elect Donald Trump follows through on his campaign pledge to remove millions of immigrants living in the country illegally.
To some churches, sanctuary means spiritual support or legal assistance to fight deportation. Others promise or already are extending physical sanctuary by housing immigrants.
In Brockton, a poor city of about 95,000 people south of Boston, four churches have pledged to take in immigrants fearful of being deported.

Fine, pull the 501c3 status and retroactively collect taxes back to the year they were founded....
Enough of this nonsense.
I think these people are in for some hard lessons, unless they are exceptionally lucky.
The churches have made millions from the Obama administration bringing in Syrians and such. Ironic too that they would house potential Muslim terrorists in a Christian place of worship... or will all these churches vet their clients?
And deserve.
Even our churches put fraudulently documented foreigners ahead of the citizens and the rule of law.......
Shut them down and lock up the priests, rabbis and ministers who are flaunting our laws. Period. The Rights that we all enjoy under the First Amendment do not allow for ignoring or breaking the law of the land.
I agree. Any religious organization that openly breaks the law, and then flaunts their action, should definitely lose their tax-exempt status.
They had better look at what happened in Sweden when liberal, do-gooder churches took in migrants. The migrants urinated, defecated and masturbated in the pews. They left trash everywhere and intentionally disrespected the church property. Sometimes, though, these do-gooders need a smack of reality to wake up.
are they prepared to take in all of them ?
You know, it pains me to say this, but these churches are declaring that they will become a criminal enterprise.
Whether it happens or not, those churches are fair game for being bulldozed to the ground.
What makes them think they should be above the law?
If the government were doing something not reasoned or illegal, I would stand with the churches. Here, I can’t defend them at all.
And no, I don't give a damn about 'breaking up' invader families or whatever other sob story they or their seditious lawyer accomplices come up with.
So what if their children were born here?
They, too, can be deported with Mom or Dad, then later apply for U.S. citizenship.
And abolishing the 501c3 status and retroactively collecting taxes is an excellent idea. They should never offer sanctuary to anyone who has consistently broken our immigration laws.
Yep.....aren’t they 501 c? cut them off too, then graze them. yeah pains me too, but at some point it became us/vs them..I like us. Them....they want us dead.
About that rendering unto Caesar bit???? Laws and all???
And when the ungrateful savages rape Christian women and leave bodily excretions in churches, cognitive dissonance will prevent the churchy people from recognizing the source of the problem.
They sure have taken enough taxpayer dollars, directly from the US Treasury, to cover care for all of them and then some.
Plan on having your tax free status challenged.
