I know that but I’m praying about it. He knows me too well.....I react to things that burn me up and have to let it out.....I’m His problem child, probably grating on His last nerve but He loves me and takes care of me anyway and for that I’m eternally grateful.......:)
I don’t wish to come across as unsympathetic to the blue side of this terrible, terrible tragedy, even though I’ve been looking at the black skin side of it.
I believe it possible — whether likely or not (I am not close enough to really tell) that the officer who sacrificed may even meet up with Minquell in heaven, the grudge between both of them gone. I do not know if those in heaven still pray too — would they pray that their deaths would not be in vain? Different Christian followings have different takes. The bible speaks of the blood of the martyrs being avenged, but I wonder if that could be on a spiritual level. I.e. that Satan, the ultimate instigator here, is sent packing to hell, rather than some mortal.
We’re fast approaching Christmas, the day about which men sing with wistfulness about peace on earth and good will to men, about God and sinners reconciled, about the Babe of Bethlehem making His home in our hearts. Maybe it doesn’t need to be just with wistfulness this happens.
On a side note, some might wonder whether Minquell, having committed two murders (the policeman and himself) could be saved, because heaven does not have murderers in it. The answer, if it were to have been set up by the Lord, would be in the continual washing set up by Christ. It sounds dreadfully unfair to us mortals, but as soon as a sin is over, it turns the sinner into an ex-sinner... again. How could that be fair? It is, because it was suffered for on the Cross.
I’m struggling here for a balance. We need accountability in this world of wickedness, to turn unbelievers towards God and remind believers to embrace God again sooner rather than later. We also need the gospel hope of Christ and a real sense of it happening. I believe witnesses to it are already beginning to appear in the current events of America. Who, a year ago, would have guessed Donald Trump would be president-elect with a comprehensive political salvation plan, and bringing along Mike Pence, a Christian who has a background in reaching the “gay” population? And both through an unlikely set of circumstances?
