Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel met with President-elect Donald Trump in New York on Wednesday morning, using the discussion to urge Trump to reconsider his positions on immigration.
During his 45-minute meeting with the president-elect in his personal office high above Manhattan in Trump Tower, Emanuel hand-delivered a letter from the mayors of some of the nation's largest cities urging Trump to continue protections offered to young immigrants instituted under President Barack Obama's administration.
The two-page letter asked Trump to continue Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, the provision that protects young, so-called Dreamers who came to the country before the age of 16 from deportation and allows them to study and work in the U.S.
"I delivered to the president-elect and his senior adviser and his chief of staff a letter signed by 14 mayors that, uh, put together from across the country, about our DACA students. And that they were working hard towards the American Dream," Emanuel told reporters in the Trump Tower lobby following the meeting.
"And all of us fundamentally believe that those are students, those are also people that want to join the armed forces. They gave their name, their address, their phone number, where they are. They are trying to achieve the American Dream, no fault of their own, their parents came here. They are something we should hold up and embrace," the mayor added.
Emanuel has said that reversing DACA would amount to a "bait-and-switch" on those young immigrants who have trusted the government by stepping forward and offering their personal information.
The discussion between Emanuel and Trump was scheduled to last 30 minutes but went on for 45 minutes, according to a source familiar with the meeting who was not authorized to speak publicly. Emanuel met with Trump, the president-elect's chief strategist, Steve Bannon,

Hopefully, the Democrats will treat Trump the way the Arab States treat Israel......They’ll hate him, but they’ll also fear and respect him.
Israel takes a hard line, because it’s survival is at stake. I think Trump understands that America’s survival is also at stake.
I find it interesting that Trump will meet with leaders with various political outlooks and backgrounds. He needs to work with these people even if he does not agree with them. It shows his ability to dialogue is much more intact than the novel peace prize winner. He would only talk and surrounded himself with those who agreed with him.
Oh I think they know it.

Rahm Emmanuel is terrible. He has done nothing about the violence in Chicago. It’s out of control.

The American dream has been stolen from real Americans. These illegal invaders can go dream the Nicaraguan dream, the Guatemalan dream, and the Mexican dream.
Chicago is in shambles. Many won’t even venture there for a visit. Rham’s going to the “tower” is to probably beg for more of our hard earned tax dollars going to bail out the mess he has created.
I hope President-elect Trump told emmanual to go **** him self.
Meanwhile, send Dr. Carson of HUD to the,poor Chicago neighborhoods, so he can help build charter schools, tear down blighted buildings, offer loans for urban renewal, relocate factories from offshore into poor neighborhoods.
Then keep working to deport illegals. In 2020, Trump can ask Chicagoans who was more focused on the Americans and American jobs. Trump will win Chicago, and thus Illinois.

Emanuel’s visit shows that they’ll let anyone into Trump Tower. Yesterday when Pres. Elect Trump came down to make his statement on Boeing, the lobby of Trump Tower sounded like an animal market in some primitive village. Those who are paying through the nose to live in Trump Tower are probably getting very tired of this circus.
Hundreds of attacks annually that is a hard line all right.
Some was here on FR once offered a real solution. After an attack they should bulldoze 10 feet off of Palestine repeat as necessary.

Are the ethnic? Do they know their Gender? Do they know what Micro Aggressions are? So many hurdles, illegals bypass all those.
