Trump chooses pro wrestling magnate Linda McMahon to head the Small Business Administration

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump plans to nominate professional wrestling magnate and former Senate candidate Linda McMahon as his choice to head the Small Business Administration, transition officials told Reuters on Wednesday.

The announcement was expected later on Wednesday.

McMahon, 68, is a co-founder and former CEO of the professional wrestling franchise WWE, which is based in Stamford, Connecticut. She ran unsuccessfully for a U.S. Senate seat in Connecticut in 2010. She was an early supporter of Trump's presidential campaign.

The SBA, which has at least one office in every U.S. state, provides support to small businesses such as extending loans and making sure they get a percentage of federal contracts.

Trump's announcement, a copy of which was seen by Reuters, said McMahon would be a key player in his effort to generate stronger job growth and roll back federal regulations. He said she had helped the WWE grow from a 13-person operation to a publicly traded global enterprise with more than 800 employees worldwide. Donald Trump is a WWE Hall of Fame member.

Hulk Hogan for FBI director? Rowdy Roddy Pipper for Homeland Security Chief? Andre the Giant as head of the Federal Reserve?

I wonder how many times they practiced that stunt.

That’s a really good stunt-fall, complete with a full backflip.

The fed gov is a LIMITED government. Specifically, read Article 1, Section of the US Cons. The fed gov is LIMITED to doing those things described in Art 1 Sec 10.

And thank GOD! If the fed gov were empowered to seize your money to fund each and every single “good idea” that some congressman thinks would “help small business” or help any thing that crazy politicians can dream up, we would live in a totalitarian dictatorship and we would all be VERY VERY BROKE.

Nonsense. Art. I, Sec. 10 describes what States are prohibited from doing. The rest of the Constitution defines the authority of the three branches of the Federal government. You don’t know what in the hell you’re talking about.

Well, aren’t we feisty.

You are correct. I merely made a typo. while you display ignorance of the Cons, if you believe the FED G. can legislate on any topic at anytime simply if they believe that it can “help” small businesses.

Art 1, Sec EIGHT is what I meant. Again, that is merely a typo.

Now go read it and then tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about.

Federal Administrative agencies such as the SBA, FCA, CFTC, and many others have been created by Congress in accordance with Art. I, Sec. 1 and Sec. 8 of the Constitution, and courts have upheld the right of Congress to make laws that delegate limited lawmaking authority to administrative agencies. Such agencies are created by enabling statutes, i.e. by laws that define the procedures for the agencies’ rule making. All of this is perfectly constitutional and if it were not, courts would long ago have declared the process to be unconstitutional. Whether or not the activities of a particular agency are worthwhile or lawful are of course an entirely different questions over which debates can go on ad nauseam.

Now stop bothering me. You don’t know what you’re talking about!

It seems to me that if you were a true conservative, you would quit your job and return all the income you made back to the US Treasury.

Let's be practical, though. I am sure it would be impossible for you to 'return' all that money, but why didn't you QUIT and work somewhere else, six years ago ?

Well, six years ago, I was being recruited by DOD. I had 4 yrs in the Marines with a 5 point preference (Beirut, Lebanon, 1983) plus 3.5 years with the Dept of Navy after exiting the Corps. The process was moving SLOWLY.... My “recruiter” steered me toward SBA which was on a vet hiring frenzy. They waved $85 Gs in my face and I couldn’t say no.

Sure, Jesus, or a far better man than I, would not work there, and I realize that, but what can I say?

Thank you for your response, and the honesty. I worked for a government agency for 7 years and I also disagreed with many things they did. Yet, I liked my job and the pay that came with it.

I gotta start posting work stories here. The word “unbelievable” is much overused, but, truly, SO much of what goes on in the G is simply unbelievable.

Did you work in DC or elsewhere? Much of what is wrong is because I am in DC with its demographics.

Elsewhere. Heart of the US.

Maybe. But my experience was many years ago, and the problems seemed to be prevalent because it was government, not because of it's real estate location.

Still, I am sure your experience there involved "unbelievable" , while mine involved "stupid and wasteful".
