The guy saves 1100 jobs and they act like this is exactly like Solyndra. No, Solyndra received checks from the gummit not tax credits. YUUGE difference.

I was arguing on FR the other day with some moron, who asked me how much those tax cuts were going to cost. He said "tax cuts always have a cost."

I asked him, "How much does it cost me if you decide not to steal my wallet?"

It only shows how brainwashed this country is when they count tax cuts as costs. Marxists believe every dollar in America is owned by the gummit.

Ask him how many tax dollars the state will get if they move.

IF we fired 80% of the union-thug bureaucRATs, leaving in-place the 20% that actually do all the work, and eliminated at least half of the departments and agencies, we could substantially cut the budget...for real.

Plus, there must be a hundred$ of trillion in unfunded liabilities...including thousands of six figure annual “pensions”....ska-rew that...let em live on SS, based on a $60K salary...like most people.

Or better yet, they can wash windshields.

Wallace starts with “controversial” Taiwan call. Why shouldn’t we ally ourselves with a freely elected country?

Controversial? We should have done this on June 5, 1989, instead of Bush Sr.'s sending emissaries to kowtow to Beijing after the Tiananmen Massacre the night before.

Seems Taiwan is still around but it seems mostly symbolic by this point in time.

Taiwan is more than symbolic. It has a population of 23.5 million people, which would make it the 55th largest country in the world--bigger than Australia. Its GDP per capita is $46,800 (2015 est.), making it the 29th in the world tied with Canada. Its exports total $335.5 billion (2015 est.) a year, 16th highest in the world, higher than Spain, India, or Brazil.

Its reserves of foreign exchange and gold are $430.7 billion, the sixth highest in the world, higher than the US, France, Germany, etc.

Taiwan is an economic powerhouse. 27% of its exports go to the PRC, 13% to Hong Kong, and 10% to the US. Its import partners: Japan 17.6%, China 16.1%, US 9.5%.

No telling how many projects are hung up like that one. It’s costs the country tons of money and pushes us down just a little bit more. It’s what chaos and Cloward Pivening the country is all about. Add in a little Alinksy and you have a once great nation now in decline.

You may have the last word.

Well I'd say that is appropriate, as the open borders crowd doesn't generally have any non-emotional arguments in their favor. I simply do not see any reason to allow those who have already demonstrated by their actions that they have no respect for our laws to jump to the head of the immigration line. They can reurn to their home country and apply like anyone else on the planet. If we don't control our borders we do not have a country.

Uncle Sap is the largest debtor nation in the world.

We can't afford to foot most of bill to defend the Free World.

We can't afford these terrible trade deals that allow other nations to rip us off and result in our manufacturing base relocating overseas and offshoring American jobs.

We can't afford open borders and mass legal immigration.

These things that we cannot afford are exactly why the progressives have initiated and support them. The destruction of our country IS their goal.

never forget that.

It is utterly amusing to me to see supposed “Libertarians” and self styled “True Conservatives” busy mouthing the Marxist economic dogma that all economic output is property of the State and any time the state takes less it is a “Government subsidy”.

That is the base for this absurd “crony capitalism” argument. This dogma that any reduction in government taxation MUST be “paid for” by increased taxation on others is utterly absurd nonsense completely at odds with our system of Government.

No you foolish children. In our system, the State is granted revenues by the people as a collective good. It is their property granted TO the Government not vice versa. It is up to the voters in IN to render the judgment on their Representatives at the voting booth if this was a wise move or a foolish move for the collective to reduce tax burdens on Carrier in exchange for the collective good of keeping the 1100 jobs.

The other glaring error in this absurd argument is the assumption that the economy is a zero sum game. Thus a reduction here means an addition in taxes there. NO children it does not.

The Five on Fox ran the numbers. By keeping the 1100 jobs the State gets a net gain of $2.5 million in taxes from the 1100 jobs maintained. In addition, the State does NOT have to pay out mandated retraining, unemployment and welfare costs of having 1100 productive highly paid workers taken out of the the work force. The economy is a dynamic force not static as you try to make it be in your “Crony Capitalism” argument.

The final lesson here is, again, we see the reason the “Movement Conservatives” have been the least effective political force in US History.

Letting people keep their OWN money rather then taxing it way from them is GOOD. It is the heart of Conservatism.

We are not going to undo 100 years of creeping socialism by stamping out feet and holding our breath demanding ideologically perfect political dogmas. Yet here we go again with the usual “Movement Conservatives” trying desperately to spin a win as a defeat because it does NOT fit their ivory tower dogmatically pure political fantasies.

That mindset is EXACTLY why “Movement Conservatives” have been the most political ineffective group in US History. They all are so busy whining about everything not being dogmatically ideologically perfect they have accomplished nothing politically since 1980.

Rather the cling to these day dreams of some mythical perfectly ideologically pure fantasy land, it time Movement Conservatives learn to live in the REAL world of poltical incrementalism rather then their ideologically pristine ineffective bubble world.
