Fire tore through an Oakland warehouse converted into artist studios during a late night dance party Friday night, killing at least nine people, and officials said Saturday that the death toll could rise as high as 40.
Confirmed. Everything I worked so hard for is gone. Blessed that my children and Micah were at a hotel safe and sound... it's as if I have awoken from a dream filled with opulence and hope.... to be standing now in poverty of self worth.
No mention of the dead. The hundreds of posters on his thread told him exactly what they thought of that self-serving post.
ditto
Sorry for the young people who perished - they didn't have a chance to grow out of their 20s.
Pictures of this place on the inside, it was a tinder box waiting for a match

But keepin' it real....The fire at The Station nightclub in West Warwick, RI was in 2003. It was caused by pyrotechnics that set afire flammable materials. There were inadequate exits. Many perished.
My point is that the fire chief and mayor have to be held accountable for looking the other way when buildings are used for unsafe purposes. That 2003 fire should've led to very strong vigilance about potential disaster environments.
I’m sure the city is in cover-up mode. Probably turned a blind eye many times to these raves. Like true bureaucrats and Progressives they are now starting the Blame Game which always absolves themselves of any responsibility. Betcha there were city employees in attendance.
Somebody will blame Trump before it’s all over.
They’’ll never learn
It is not that the place is old and made of wood. Many old buildings of character are and should not be torn down because of it. Most of those buildings I go into have visible evidence of smoke detectors and sprinkler systems even though it is not in keeping with the original architecture. Alternate ingress and egress are added also rarely blending with the original architecture. Exit signs are clearly visible. All these things should have been in that building. If city officials were looking the other way, they were culpable. The loss of life is sad.
Look at all that WOOD!
OMG that place was a box of matches!
And where would you turn with the first puffs of smoke?
I agree. The City must be held accountable. I’ve been reading posts from actual people who begged the city to do something about this disaster waiting to happen. This would never happen in my County. I don’t know how it happened there.
What does a “three alarm fire” mean?
.
It means that the commander in charge has called for extra help twice.
.
So severe the alarm must be rung again and again to summon more firefighters including from nearby communuties. There was a nine or 10 alarm fire today in E. Cambridge MA that consumed or affected about 10 buildings and displaced 100.
The owner is steeped in misconduct here, manslaughter charges awaiting? Negligent behavior.
Left wing source, probably, underground alternative type of newspaper but they have the lowdown.
.
The place was a freak haven.
.
Its an interesting place, cool to look at, but very unsafe. If you look around, you see extension cords being used to power the place. That is a big no no and is usually the cause of most fires. Or some idiot lighting a candle or pyrotechnics.
The place was truly a kindle box waiting for a match though
Too bad people died because of senseless carelessness of people putting it all together
Reminds me of Haunted Castle where 9 kids died as well
9 dead. 25 missing. 40 expected dead. 9+25=40. Is that common core math?
When I was young man I did ALL THE STUPID, FOOLISH, things; I still thank thank the Good Lord that JESUS delivered me a good swift KICK IN THE ASS in 1976.
Things have been pretty good since then; ups and downs, lost loved ones, gained loved ones.
Screwed up several time since, have learned from it and tried not to do it again.
I will never forgive myself for some of the crap I pulled, but I guess that’s up to GOD.
