New Delhi: A petition urging the Electoral College to reject Donald Trump as the next President of the United States has become the most popular in the history of Change.org, a site that mobilizes support for petitions through e-signatures.
Over 4.6 million people have signed the petition titled "Make Hillary Clinton President", which calls on the Electoral College to elect the Democratic presidential candidate over Trump when it officially votes on December 19.
The petition argues that since Clinton won the popular vote in the November 8 election by a margin of 2 million ballots, she should be the President. It also dismisses Trump as unfit to be the next US Commander in Chief.
"Mr Trump is unfit to serve. His scapegoating of so many Americans, and his impulsivity, bullying, lying, admitted history of sexual assault, and utter lack of experience make him a danger to the Republic," the petition states.
Seen as a last hope for Clinton supporters, the petition has been endorsed by a number of celebrities.

Filed by social activist Daniel Brezenoff, the petition is an unconventional way of altering the result of a US election. But then again, nothing about the 2016 presidential race has been conventional.
"This petition is unprecedented, but Donald Trump is an unprecedented danger to the Constitution. He is the kind of president our Founding Fathers warned us about," Brezenoff wrote in his appeal.
The petition has garnered over two million more votes than the next largest campaign on the site, which called for an end to an infamous dog meat festival in China.
On November 8, Trump swept the Electoral College with 306 electoral votes to Clinton's 232. But the petition puts forward that electors in 14 states can change their minds and vote for Clinton without facing any legal penalty.
The Electoral College system requires that representatives of each state cast ballots to decide who will actually become the new President. Members of the college are supposed to vote for whoever won their state, but could theoretically change their mind.
If I ever had a question about the Democrats being a lawless bunch of thugs - I’ve found out the answer these past few week.
Hopefully the rule of law will triumph once again in January.

It’s so ludicrous and laughable to suggest, let alone demand, that because Hillary won the popular vote *in the states she won*...that the states she DIDN’T win the popular vote in (and whose combined electoral votes gave Trump the presidency) should go along with their insane nonsense.
By that same token then, when any gop candidate for the presidency wins the popular vote nationally, then they should get the electoral votes of the states they lost like CA and NY. We would never make that kind of appeal because it’s so embarrassingly absurd on its face, but these people have no shame nor sense.
That changes everything.

We already had the official petition on November 8th, and President Trump got 306 signatures on his petition, whereas Hilary got only 232 signatures on hers.
