Sorry, cant post bloomberg content per their copyright complaint.
How many jobs has Ford already off shored? We shouldn’t reward them for that. I’m in favor of rolling out the red carpet for companies that build or expand operations in the U.S., but Ford doesn’t need any special deal. States and cities have been burned by these deals too. The most rewards should go to US startups, and companies that build, expand and hire Americans, not fat cat companies that threaten to leave. If Ford decides to repatriate jobs, then we’ll talk. Otherwise, why not help a new US company replace Ford as one of America’s premier automobile makers?
Nice work on the numbers, Lez!
“Trump has already talked about rolling back regulations that hurt businesses along with EPA regulations. This would be for all businesses.”
Your reply starts to address what Trump and his administration is really working toward. The Carrier and Lincoln mini deals are just a small token of what they have planned to make the USA more competitive again....IMHO.
Yes, totally.. amazing.
Let the analysts figure out how much the COMBINED yearly taxes of all the workers is, as well as all the businesses in that town that will stay open, then make an informed decision on the size of tax breaks :)
My BIL is a multi millionaire (and a cheapskate of epic proportions)
He made his fortune trading commodities and now buys and flips houses.
Travels a LOT of miles in a week.
Because of the new CRUSHING gasoline tax, he let 2 of 10 workers go. Is he a cheapskate? Yeah. Is it his business? Yeah.
So what? Is it a good investment?
I read right here on FR that the $7 Million in Tax Incentives was offered by Indiana to Carrier BEFORE they made the decision to move.
They didn’t do the deal then.
I refer you here for context on the numbers:

Ding ding ding. It was a face save. Love people who get it.
These companies can try to bargain but consumers will not like it that they need to be bribed to offer jobs to Americans when they are about to enjoy lower tax rates and less regulations regardless.
Sarah Palin is deeply saddened...
Cafe standards need to be reduced.
Since when should the government be in the business of taxing the life blood out of everyone in the first place.
Those *tax breaks* are not some favor the government is showing companies and individuals. Those taxes should never have been put in place in the first place.
Besides, WE'RE the ones paying the taxes. The companies aren't. They just pass the tax costs down along to the rest of us.
Why not? Carrier got them. It’s Christmas time for CEOS, next it will be jobs created or saved. But I wonder if that is before trumps trillion dollar stimulus. Crony capitalism, it just comes natural. I wonder if the millions in taxpayer dollars is a one time thing or the gift that keeps on giving. Even if the tax break was 1million dollars for one thousand jobs, that’s 100,000 per job, likely per year. Paid to play. This mathematical ignorance drives me crazy and I knew he would propose this kind of Obama jobs program, plus a trillion dollar stimulus. I see no diff from he and Obama on these items, yay.
The mathematical ignorance is yours. That’s $1,000 per job, not $100,000.
use of the word cronyism indicates ignorance of business
Business is done by people, not companies
Greenville SC has BMW and it has done wonders for the area.
Yep.
