A mother who drowned her newborn son in a sink before leaving her home to write a university exam has avoided time behind bars, though a judge described her actions as "abhorrent.''
Courtney Saul, 19, was sentenced to two years' probation in provincial court in Kamloops, B.C.
Saul was a student at Thompson Rivers University when her baby, George Carlos, was born on Dec. 15, 2011.
Court heard Saul gave birth alone in the bathroom of a basement suite where she was living.
"She held the baby for some time, but she had an exam that day,'' Crown lawyer Will Burrows said. "Because she had the exam, she didn't know what to do. She finally decided she should drown the baby. She did that in the sink and then she went to her exam.''

What do you expect when young women have it pounded into their heads constantly that they have a right to kill their babies? You have to expect that a few of them will exercise that right in a more personal, hands-on manner.
Terrible, horrible. It sounds like a very loveless life. Had a one night stand nine months before and forgot about it.
I most sincerely hope she finds the Lord. The devil will do this kind of thing to a soul, making it among the walking dead. Her soul was dead long before the baby died.
Only women murdering babies get away with it.
It’s not long after they are indoctrinated that it is okay, that an evil voice will come telling them they OUGHT to do it whenever it gets in the way of some other earthly thing.

“Saul confessed to police and was charged with infanticide. Court heard the charge was stayed a short time later and, in 2015, Saul was charged with second-degree murder.
In August, following a decision from the Supreme Court of Canada earlier this year, Saul’s charges were downgraded back to infanticide.”
So infanticide is a lesser crime than second degree murder? And she gets no jail time because the judge says her supposed self punishment is enough? She had the moral depravity to drown her own helpless infant,
and they think that she has a conscience?

Abhorrent actions resulting in murder only gets probation. Guess a newborn is still just a blob of cells. When do babies become humans these days? The first day of school or later?
