Facts Matter: Four Responses to 'Hillary Won the Popular Vote'

... Democrats can't simply run up the score in giant liberal states like California, New York and Illinois and call it a day. Similarly, Republicans can't dominate Texas and the South and pull off a win. The equation is more complex -- with an array of constituencies, featuring varied opinions and dispositions, needing to be wooed. This is by design.

To that end, Donald Trump carried approximately 82 percent of all US counties, with Hillary Clinton's success being mostly limited to large urban, left-leaning populations. Trump won a supermajority of states and an overwhelming majority of counties, from coast to coast....

And CA registers illegals to vote when they get drivers licenses. No checking if they voted illegally. If they want to demand a popular vote then it would be the citizen’s rights to demand that all states follow rules.

Regarding the popular vote: I have been led to believe over the years that popular vote totals in national elections are far from accurate as when states make a declaration for a candidate, the absentee and provisional ballots are unnecessary and therefore not counted.

Is that true?

well, I don’t try to reason with them as they don’t have permission to be near me.

As I found out this past thursday, my PHD neice and nephew(both doctors) are libtarded after 16 plus years of indoctrination.

I did not want to see it but they are rabid.

Smart kids so smart but as we Freeper have studied here, no common sense.

Concerning to say the least!

I agree. For some reason we seem to stray further and further from the original idea that the US is a union of states and that to be president of the union, you had to be accepted by a majority of the people in all or most of the states. It’s about time some of the states take back some of the rights that are constitutionally theirs.

No, whoever is saying that is misinformed. Besides the voting for the presidential electors, there are down ticket races and issues which also are on the same absentee and provisional ballots, and these might be much closer.

Hence, all the votes must be counted. (Unfortunately, this includes the dead people vote.)

Common Core math! There are 3,141 counties in the United States. Trump won 3,084 of them. Clinton won 57. 98%

98%, not 82%.

Would people please stop perpetuating this myth. All votes are counted. The presidential race is not the only thing on the ballot.

The simplest and clearest retort I've heard is the World Series:

The World Series is won by the team that wins 4 games and not the team that scores the highest number of total runs in all the games.

Similarly, the US Presidency is won by the candidate that wins 270 state electoral votes and not the candidate who scores the highest number of total votes in all the states.

Every contest has its rules - that all opponents agree to abide by.

Presidential candidates and baseball teams - who agreed to those rules before entering their contests - have no legitimate complaint when they lose by those rules.

Those who show such utter contempt for the rules should be barred from future competition - whether it be sports or politics.

This is the part that really makes me sad:

To that end, Donald Trump carried approximately 82 percent of all US counties, with Hillary Clinton's success being mostly limited to large urban, left-leaning populations.

Enslaving 82% of the nation to the whims of the highly metropolitan big city citizens is positively criminal. We citizens who choose not to live in livestock barns like San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angelas, etc are not the slaves to the citizens who do choose to live there. We are the majority. With 82% of all U.S. counties supporting Trump ... why was this election even close in the electoral college. It should have been a massive landslide. The real crime is that the electoral college is unfairly weighted toward metropolitan areas. I say : "one county, one elector".

So very sorry to hear it. However we all have them in our families. Influenced by their union, school indoctrination, liberal friends or TV. Eventually, we come around to just writing them off. Many of them have great paying jobs that they wouldn’t have gotten if they were conservative. A sad by-the-way, now that the we are on the cusp of a great turnaround, in both the economy and in reining in the intrusive government, these people still won’t see the light.. They will just bide their time and wait for the next chance to vote socialist.

The best response when somebody tells you ‘but Hillary won the popular vote’ is to say “That’s why she lost”.

Hilarity ensues.

Unless the only elective office on the ballot is for POTUS I would believe this is not true. Do you stop counting when you have races from Senator down to alderman to decide. Or do you count those and ignore POTUS votes because that’s been decided?

“Absentee ballots were not counted where they could not flip the outcome. For the popular vote to be accurate, they would all have to be counted.”

And the military absentee vote would be ours. :-)

Why not do what democrats do and change the rules after the game's been played?

The Chicago Cubs LOST because the 'new rules' are 'whoever's side drinks the most beer at a game' wins...

Trump won MORE STATES.

Let's change the law to 'whoever wins the most States' wins.

That works for me.

Or base the win on how many unicorns own cars in a State? More unicorns - fewer votes? How's that brain deal editors at the New York Times and Washington Post?
