LANSING, Mich. - Attorney General Bill Schuette announced Friday that he filed a lawsuit on behalf of the people of Michigan to stop a request by Green Party candidate Jill Stein to recount the states presidential election results by hand.
The suit asks the Michigan Court of Appeals to order the Michigan Board of Canvassers to reject the request and says that the Michigan statute authorizing recounts requires the petitioning candidate to demonstrate that she was aggrieved by fraud or mistake.
Michigan voters rejected Steins candidacy by massive margins but her refusal to accept that state-verified result poses an expensive and risky threat to hard-working taxpayers and abuses the intent of Michigan law, said Schuette. We have asked the court to end the recount which Stein is pursuing in violation of Michigan laws that protect the integrity of our elections. It is inexcusable for Stein to put Michigan voters at risk of paying millions and potentially losing their voice in the Electoral College in the process.
Schuette also filed an emergency motion with the Michigan Supreme Court asking to bypass the Court of Appeals for immediate consideration.

THIS JUST IN: @DrJillStein has filed a federal lawsuit challenging the delay of her recount in Michigan until middle of next week.”
Because you can’t have enough election lawsuits!
B****. She has no standing! Get your crooks out of my state, Stein.
This isn’t Stein’s doing. This is all a front for Hillary Clinton.
She doesn’t want to be seen as being the one calling for the recounts because she wants to avoid the hypocrisy label cause she went after trump about accepting results.
If Stein had asked for recounts in New Hampshire, New Mexico, Minnesota and Nevada... maybe I’d have believed her “integrity of the vote” crap.
No, this is all Clinton garbage. Hopefully Assange is hacking right now looking for proof of the cooperation between the camps.
Stein is still the front person. She gave up ALL of her integrity to help Hillary, the Insane. Hope Stein likes her new lake house. (Or whatever Hillary promised her)
I live in PA and not so sure they won’t let the recount happen. Very, very liberal bunch here unfortunately and very used to getting their way by cheating.
Wondering what she claims makes this a federal case...
IDK, don’t see the ‘irreparable damage’ to Trump.
Trump has the electors now and the cost of paricipating in a recount isn’t ‘irreparable damage’.
Though the Michigan taxpayers are suffering ‘irreparable damage’, and I don’t see how Stein is aggrieved since she can’t win.
The media should be asking questions about this...
“Hillary, you’ve accepted the results of the election, said it’s time to unite and move on. Why won’t you discourage Ms Stein from seeking these divisive, unnecessary recounts along with the spreading of rumors designed to undercut the faith of our election systems?”
Stein is a tool.
Hillary is behind all of this.
To me this proves her plan to keep EVs out by delay. She reads that pushing dates out = the MI EVs WILL vote for DT regardless of where in the process she is. She'd rather get (re) counting and then turn up (manufactured) something. They are worried bout MI and they will lose WI on time. They will flip PA due to the judicial coup d'etat in process this weekend
The rats may not realize that all the electors including Ws will be awarded to Trump they don’t need any recount be done.
Delay Trump wins
Speed it up-Trump wins
Do nothing -Trump wins.
It is the House which decides what electors to take.
There is no chance of a loss of electors. The legislature of each state determines the electors and these will be Republican coming from the Republican legislature.
Should a Recount slate be declared winner, the House does not have to sit them. Any member can object and the vote of the House determines which is the legitimate slate.
Hobgoblins are fun though Halloween has passed.
Bill Schuette. He’s on duty.
