The ‘Fake News’ Con: A Case Study
American Thinker ^ | December 2, 2016 | Jack Cashill

The media have found a creative new way to explain away Hillary’s Clinton’s crushing defeat and their own humiliation. They have dubbed the agent of their mutual undoing “fake news” and talk about the phenomenon as though it made real sense.

In an all too typical New York Times opinion piece this week Michael Lynch defines “fake news” as “pure fiction masquerading as truth” and presents it exclusively as a “right wing” phenomenon. Like many of his colleagues, Lynch suggests the Russian government was involved in planting fake news items and believes that such items, regardless of source, may have cost Hillary Clinton the election.

To test Lynch’s thesis, we might profitably select a presumed “fake news” item and follow its course through what the Clintons once called the “communication stream of conspiracy commerce.” In August 2010, the Times identified a news item simple enough and seemingly fake enough, “Obama uses a phony Social Security number,” to makes a useful case study.

Tracking this story, one finds its source not in in Russia, but in Ohio. The person responsible for surfacing the number is a licensed private investigator named Susan Daniel. In 2009, troubled by the drift of the country under Barack Obama, she and fellow investigator Neil Sankey began to plow through proprietary databases and investigate Obama on their own time. What they discovered is that from 1986 on Barack Obama has been using a Social Security number that seemed to originate in Connecticut.

Another fine example of liberals accusing others of what they are themselves doing. This confuses the limited info people and deflects much of the criticism that comes at the libs. When completely outed, it is much easier to say, “Hey! Everyone does it!” and get away with it.

They really do live in a bubble or echo chamber.
They simply reject any facts that conflict with their libtard worldview. And when their chosen candidate loses despite their best efforts, they simply fantasize a new false narrative that allows them to remain in their bubble.

Fake news is a euphemism for lying, dishonesty, and flat out propaganda.

They aren’t delusional; they are willing collaborators in the overthrow of our democratic processes via mass propaganda.

I think that article gets to the root of the problem, which is systematic selective biased journalism.

PIS is a good acronym for those traitors, but I prefer to call them Progressive Old Socialists. Chris Cuomo is a POS. Ann Curry is a POS. Rachel Maddow is a POS. Shepard Smith is a POS. Anderson Cooper is a POS. Diane Sawyer is a POS. Chris Matthews is a POS. Brian Williams is a POS.

[Many of them also belong in the “Film Actors Guild” of Team America]

just like everything else recently... this will come back to bite liberals on the butt.

Trump will decide which news sites are “fake” and which are real. Trump will fill the press pool slots with all these supposedly “fake” news sites, while banning the self proclaimed “real” news sites... and he will do it by proclaiming... THEM FAKE and unworthy of being present!

ROFL!

I see two fake-news usages on the left.
One is the same was FReepers understand to be fake news. A story that is false, a lie.

But the left has another usage. Stories that originate in the main-stream media are by definition “news”. That is true regardless of whether they are true or false.

But in the left’s definition, stories that originate outside the main-stream media are not “news” and therefore are fake news.

So when Trump or Bannon or you tweet something, or put something on FR it is not news because we are not the legit news media.

But if some Hollywood celebrity tweets something, it is “news” because that celebrity is part of the legit news media, even though it is the entertainment news media.

In short an argument from authority. It is news if Chuck Todd says it is news.

Liberals and all people accuse others of what they themselves are guilty. The underlying premise is that people judge others against the yardstick of their own soul. Liars believe everyone lies. Thieves believe everyone steals. They assume what is normal for them is normal for everyone.

Likewise, those who are honest assume everyone is honest. Those who have goodwill toward their fellows believe everyone does. . .and this is the fundamental divide between the left and right.

The right thinks the left is as fundamentally honorable as they are and the left thinks the right is as fundamentally dishonorable as they are. Both are always surprised that the other side does not respond according to those assumptions.

This is the conflict of the ages and the only thing that reconciles it is the shared moral framework of Judeo-Christian philosophy and belief. When it is not shared, we have. . .well, what we have today.

When it is shared, civilization moves forward toward liberty and justice for all. Technology advances humanely and love and decency flourish. Just because we have never fully accomplished the goals of Christianity doesn’t mean we should stop trying. There is great joy in the effort.

More projection from the left. The fake news comes from their side. How do I know this? By looking at all the shocked lefty faces on election night. They were all so sure Hillary had it in the bag because all the leftist propaganda said so despite the prima fascia evidence to the contrary, hence fake news. Therefore case closed.

This may be an accurate peek into the workings of the human soul and I will leave that to the wizards in the appropriate fields of inquiry. However, my humble belief is that libs accuse others of what the themselves are guilty of doing as a political tactic to deflect and survive. I think this because it is only done when they ABOUT to be accused and not before. Being politicians and in bed with the MSM, they have advance knowledge of soon to be released articles that out them. Also, they have no qualms about accusing someone who may be innocent of the accusation. Another telling sign of their black souls.
