Troubled $29 Billion U.S. Warship Sows Fresh Doubt on Worth
gcaptain/Bloomberg ^ | December 1, 2016 | Tony Capaccio

It's a Bloomberg article so it's a hand of no peeky.

It's about the Littoral Combat Vessels some believe to be worthless as you-know-what on a boar pig.

In the article innuendo is Trump would keep the program just to build up quantity of ships in the Navy, thus keep his promise of X amount of ships. I think that's typical snide Bloomberg garbagio personally, but then who am I to argue with such emissaries as John McPain.

I think the F-35 is going to eventually be OK.

How about turning them over to the Coast Guard. They might have some use in drug smuggling interdiction.

(If they can keep them running long enough to catch the bad guys.)

My son is slated to be captain on an LCS in 18 months - far cry from the DDGs he’s served on. YIKES!

I know little about Navy ships or Air Force fighters but McPain was totally against the F-22 and it now seems to be one of the worlds best fighters though I may be wrong.

I’m skeptical of any and everything that McPain expresses his opinions on.

It’s a damn hot mess.

The decision to turn the first four $360 million ships — the Freedom, the Independence, the Fort Worth and the Coronado — into testing ships will allow the Navy to conduct near- and long-term testing for the entire ship class without affecting deployment rotations.

I have been reviewing this and the 13.5 billion dollar aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford. I know more about the Ford built by Grumman affiliates. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/checkpoint/wp/2015/10/01/why-john-mccain-called-this-13-billion-aircraft-carrier-a-spectacular-debacle/?utm_term=.1fec1aef004e. See also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerald_R._Ford-class_aircraft_carrier.
Now let me take you to the House armed services Committee Chairrman , Mac Thornberry of Wichita fall, Texas in charge of oversight on this debacle. . The Ford Aircraft carrier failed. It attempted to launch heavy weapons loaded Jets with something that didn’t work— “The Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS)”. The carrier cannot be refitted to the old system or functional in any meaningful ways . It is just a big piece of junk.

Now we should see congressional over site kicking ass BUT NOOOO!!. Chairman Thornberry has not held a single hearing on the greatest pentagon debacle in our history!! I surmise why. He got$1.5 million in campaign contributions to his uncontested election November 8th. Of Which $1.1 million was from Grumman and affiliates!!!!! Guess how much “ MAC” spent on his campaign??? $1.3 million? Why? I will surmise “how”? To his family .Lock his ass UP!!

The Navy’s New Stealth Destroyer Broke Down in the Panama Canal

The US Navy’s newest destroyer broke down while transiting the Panama Canal, colliding with the Canal lock walls and forcing the $4 billion dollar ship to resort to a tow from a tugboat. The USS Zumwalt was towed to a former U.S. naval station in Panama where it will undergo emergency repairs. This is just months after a similar incident in September.

functional in any meaningful ways

It can become the USS Gerald R Ford (LDH-9)

Home for a bunch of F-35B's and V-22's.

The Name “zumwalt” just seems like the type of name a doomed ship would be named....or to be featured in a movie comedy about a misfit navy ship with a misfit crew!

Yes. For some reason the CG has a shortage of Low Endurance Cutters. These would be just the thing to fill that gap.
