I agree....but I wonder what the scope of Federal funding is to these cities?
Is it a drop in the bucket, so that it will cause barely a hiccup and they can keep carrying on?
Or is it of such an order of magnitude that it would greatly impact a local budget and therefore prompt change?
Can anyone clarify?
My guess is that these large cities that are run by liberal democrats have to have huge amounts of federal funds to handle all the handouts they give...
....I hope the funds dry up the very first day Trump takes the oath of office.
I believe our Seattle libfag mayor said that federal funding was three percent of the budget.
Of course, we have thousands of homeless living in tent cities and under the overpasses.
Actually I live north of Seattle but have conservative friends within the city limits that will no doubt be taxed some more.
When the feds want to dictate speed limits and such, they always threaten to withhold funds from uncooperative entities, and it works. No doubt it will work this time too if Trump has the starch to hold the cities' feet to the fire.
I have no idea how much federal money Chicago gets, but I do know the city’s finances are so shaky that they recently instituted a tax on internet streaming that has everybody steaming. So I suspect anything they’re cut off from revenue wise we’ll have Rahm and his minions screaming like stuck piggies.
San Francisco alone gets more than a billion a year in fed funding. That kind of shut off would cause major disruptions to a city like that.
Arrest the mayors for harboring fugitives and refusing to enforce federal law.
California is over a barrel because they are a sanctuary state. State money is a significant part of their budget. With cities you have to go after smaller amounts like DHS grants for police and emergency management.
About 10 days ago, it was announced that 10% of San Francisco’s operating budget comes from the feds. I was astounded it was that high. Withholding that much from any city is going to cause them huge problems. I have no idea if other cities are more or less than that number.
LA 500,000,000 in the city budget. Don’t know about the county. But the mayor and the chief came out and said they wouldn’t change.

Wait till those Obamacare dollars go away.
Depending on the city it can be fairly sizeable. The down side is if federal funding is cut, they will just raise taxes on the citizens to make up for it.
San Francisco gets immense funding from the feds. There are transportation projects that get billions. For instance, a current project to build a transportation hub (TransBay Terminal) with a rail extension from downtown underground to Chinatown. No small feat, the rail extension got perhaps a billion dollars for the one-mile extension. The Muni railway consisting of busses, light rail, and cable cars gets huge subsidies, currently less than 1/3rd of farebox revenue supports Muni. Then there are social services for homeless, drug addicts and illegal aliens, getting subsidies from the feds. Add to that, there are many federal buildings in San Francisco that can be pared back or move that would reduce revenue in the city. The 9th circuit court is headquartered there among many federal courthouses. Lots of fed money goes into police and fire services. The list goes on and on. If the feds pull funding for any of these, San Francisco may go bankrupt!
Two Federal Grant Programs just to LE total $3.4 billion nationwide.
