Why would you punish an entire state for the actions of one city...and why would you target public safety?

That makes no sense.

To exact compliance.

It’s a minor step on the way to arresting and prosecuting mayors and governors.

Or Federalizing the National Guard as JFK did to integrate University of Alabama in 1963

How about a compromise with the State, since some here want to play patty-cake with the Commie's.

Inform the Governor and Attorney General of that State that a Federal Warrant has been issued for Mayor "X." Tell the State officials they have 48 hours to Arrest Mayor "X" and turn him over to the US Marshal. The ball is now in their court to decide who goes to prison.

At the expiration of the 48 hours, a Federal Arrest Warrant will be issued for that Governor and / or State Attorney if Mayor "X" isn't in Federal custody. All federal funding is suspended until Mayor "X" is in Federal custody.

Because the State can preserve or regain funding by compelling the city to comply with the immigration laws. The State has lots of tools to do this, including legislation.
