Elizabeth Warren’s Preposterous Mandate Argument

Progressive senator ignores facts and common sense in asserting America wants Democratic agenda

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), whose party is at one of the weakest positions it has been in more than a century, grasped at straws this week in trying to argue the Republicans lack a mandate to govern.

The liberal firebrand’s speech on the Senate floor on Monday night got a fair amount of attention for its attacks on a Republican-backed medical research bill that she lambasted as a giveaway to big pharmaceutical companies.

Less noticed was Warren’s argument that a party that won the White House and maintained control of the Senate and House of Representatives this month lacks majority support. She noted Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s win in the national popular vote, a largely meaningless distinction considering that the U.S. system determines the presidency through the Electoral College.

When Democrats win: “We won. Get over it.”

When Republicans win: “It’s really a Democrat victory.”

Hillary’s entire popular vote advantage came from three counties - Los Angeles CA, Queens, and Bronx NY.

Our founders had amazing foresight.

Liz Warren is an idiotic crony Marxist.

Whether or not the republicans have a "mandate to govern", there is ONE party which we KNOW does not have a mandate, or a womandate, or any other kind of date date, to govern, and that is the democrats.

When almost all of these millions of votes are coming from one state, it would be like allowing California to elect the President, every four years. Beside the issue of all the illegal votes.

And she’s ignoring the mandate which Republican power in a large majority of governorships and state legislative houses gives them.

"The liberal firebrand’s speech on the Senate floor on Monday night got a fair amount of attention for its attacks on a Republican-backed medical research bill that she lambasted as a giveaway to big pharmaceutical companies."

Post 17th Amendment ratification, low-information Sen. Warren is probably clueless that she could argue the following major constitutional problem against the RINO medical research bill.

Although the bill is arguably a good idea, in the context of the fed’s constitutionally limited powers the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for such research.
