Today, about 1,000 Carrier workers and their families should be rejoicing. But the rest of our nation’s workers should be very nervous.
President-elect Donald Trump will reportedly announce a deal with United Technologies, the corporation that owns Carrier, that keeps less than 1,000 of the 2100 jobs in America that were previously scheduled to be transferred to Mexico. Let’s be clear: It is not good enough to save some of these jobs. Trump made a promise that he would save all of these jobs, and we cannot rest until an ironclad contract is signed to ensure that all of these workers are able to continue working in Indiana without having their pay or benefits slashed.
In exchange for allowing United Technologies to continue to offshore more than 1,000 jobs, Trump will reportedly give the company tax and regulatory favors that the corporation has sought. Just a short few months ago, Trump was pledging to force United Technologies to “pay a damn tax.” He was insisting on very steep tariffs for companies like Carrier that left the United States and wanted to sell their foreign-made products back in the United States. Instead of a damn tax, the company will be rewarded with a damn tax cut. Wow! How’s that for standing up to corporate greed? How’s that for punishing corporations that shut down in the United States and move abroad?
In essence, United Technologies took Trump hostage and won. And that should send a shock wave of fear through all workers across the country.

An across the board 20% tariff would take the politics out of it and be a better solution.

Lifelong Dem Carrier Employee Praises Trump: Done More For Us In 3 Weeks Than Obama Has In 9 Months

This is the second Carrier employee to go on the record praising Donald Trump in two days. These folks are extremely grateful to Trump for saving their jobs and many of them are Democrats!
This man’s name is Rick Link. He’s a lifelong Democrat who voted for Trump and he’s pretty happy about keeping his job. On FOX and Friends, Steve Doocy asked him why he voted for Trump and he said:
“He spoke to me. He hit a chord inside me, he was talking to the working man. He was talking to the middle class. And you know, we’re tired of being the working poor. We bust our tails and for what? Companies are getting tax breaks, CEOs are getting bonuses and we’re getting the shaft.”
Doocy asked him what he would like to say to Trump. He responded:
“Thank you for taking the time. You’re not even the actual President of the United States yet, you’re the President Elect but you’ve done more in your first three weeks of being elected than the current administration has done in the last nine months for us.”

From what I am hearing on the Hoosier grapevine, Carrier was reminded that the US Gov spent $5.6B with their parent company United Technologies in 2015.
Anyone who has ever sold anything has heard the words from the customer: “Remind me, how much did I buy from you last year?” It’s the point where as the sales guy you start dropping your pants or you start heading toward the door.

Should add, there are other aspects to the deal, which include tax incentives from the state. The above is how Carrier was brought to the table per the political grapevine.
That wouldn’t be enough...there is a reason why mexico has been sucking up factories like a supercharged vacuum.

His says this like it’s a bad thing.
Carrier employees make $20/hr the Mexicans were going to be paid $3/hr. That’s the reason. A tariff would even the field. Probably less that 20% which would be punitive but 5% would do it.
