During a statement on Tuesday, former Vice President Al Gore argued that the Electoral College should be abolished in favor of a popular vote system.
Gore said he supported keeping the Electoral College even after the 2000 election, because it tied the states together, but now he has changed his mind and thinks the Electoral College should be eliminated.

Actually 3/4 of the state legislatures.
No state with less than 8 - 10 EVs would ever vote for that. Thus, the entire”project” is a waste of time, because the EC cannot be amended away.
Don’t lose sight of the goal here: it is ONLY to delegitimize Trump.
Al Gore crosses the line from pathetic wanker to mentally unstable psychopath.
We should abolish democrats.
Pure Democracy accused, tried, and executed Socrates. Nuff said.
.
Gore crossed that line over 20 years ago.
.
Gore is an expert on stimulation.
ROCKLOBSTER: There isn't such a thing.
Nobody gives a damn what fatso says. His climate crap has caused enough trouble.
Only if California and New York residents count as 4/5ths of a vote. Where have I heard that?
Sure, Al.
Go back to snorting coke in Nashville bars, at least then you could carry on a semi-coherent conversation.
And Algore is just the man for the job.
“Isnt the popular vote what elected all the governors, senators and reps? Better be careful, people.”
Our legislative branch has senators who represent states and representatives who represent population. Picking a president should use a similar scheme and it sorta does with the electoral college.
Our large population centers have been magnets for people and those people like a government that gives them money.
We should Abolish Al Gore.
Al Gore is 180 degrees wrong as usual. A popular vote would cause less participation from states with below average populations. Candidates may never campaign in their states.
That's what we had prior to the 17th Amendment. Now we have Senators who represent the party elites. State elites somewhat as long as their in tune with the nation elites, but the national party elite always overrules what any given State wants and woe unto any Senator who defies that system.
As long as State Legislatures appointed the Senators, States had representatives in the Senate. Once the power to remove a Senator was taken away from the States it's been all national party and the national parties both answer to the same money men, most of whom have no interest whatsoever in what's best for the US.
For them, US power is a tool and that's all. Anything they see as the most profitable course of action is what they'll do no matter how bad the consequences are for the nation as a whole and working people in particular.
I don’t take advice from losers.
Fat Albert Gore should be abolished from this planet.
