Charlotte, North Carolina (CNN)The officer who fatally shot Keith Lamont Scott won't face charges, a prosecutor said Wednesday, closing a two-month investigation into the killing that led to heated protests and divided the city of Charlotte.

Mecklenburg County District Attorney Andrew Murray said he didn't reach the decision alone; a total of 15 prosecutors unanimously agreed that Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Officer Brentley Vinson was justified in shooting Scott on September 20 in an apartment complex parking lot.

How long before Charlotte burns? How long before Jackson and Sharpton are down there? How long before Obama calls for a Civil Rights investigation against the Charlotte police department. Stay turned because it’s all coming.

He was on some powerful nutjob meds (diazepam, amantadine, babapentin, nicotine, nordiazepam and promethazine); she said he had just taken them.

You combine that kind of ugly Rx and they will kick hard onset, then tail off as the available metabolites descend to the therapeutic level - but seriously, Heath Ledger died from a less-interesting batting lineup than that freak show cocktail.

The video from behind the shot is most telling, as he struggles to raise the gun while the LEOs (and the fishwife) all implore him to drop it.

Fairly textbook. Nothing the prosecutor or probably the eleventy billion prosecutors who reviewed it/prosecuted it/slept well hadn't seen before...

Who would have imagined that a career criminal waving a gun around and refusing to take orders from law enforcement officers would meet his just demise? We should line up to thank this officer for standing up to this African thug with a gun.

Hah.

Charges should ALWAYS be a consideration in fatal shootings.

ESPECIALLY IF THE COPS DID THE SHOOT.

The “Cops are above the law” BS is getting old fast.

That’s not how it works. All officer involved shooting are investigated and only then are charges ever considered based on the evidence. Which in this case means no charges.

This case was a good shoot, no question whatsoever.

I believe the more modern term is “oreo”. Or, at least it was the last time I cared enough to check.

"gabapentin"

I cut-and-pasted from the source and did not catch that! Or maybe my brain though babapentin was an analog. Thanks.

I just dispense the drug nearly everyday and 'babpentin' stuck out like a sore thumb. You're right, though, there can be many similarly named analogues to drugs. Just look at opioids!
