Senate Dems Pen Letter Indicating Fight Against Jeff Sessions’ AG Nomination

Senate Democrats are making it clear that Sen. Jeff Sessions will not have an easy time being confirmed as President-elect Donald J. Trump’s first attorney general.

In a letter addressed to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Democrats on the committee pushed for extensive confirmation hearings, indicating that they plan resistance, despite the fact that they referred to him as “a colleague” with whom they “have a personal and cordial relationship.”

The senators also requested that Grassley allow for outside witnesses to testify on Sessions’ track record on immigration, civil and voting rights, women’s rights, and government oversight due to his “extensive record” on these “important issues.”

Part of the letter reads, “[w]hen our country is struggling with so many divisions, the committee and the entire Senate must ask whether Senator Sessions is the right man to lead the agency charged with securing and protecting the constitutional and civil rights of all Americans.”

The letter was signed by Sens. Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Richard “Dick” Durbin (D-IL), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Al Franken (D-MN), Christopher Koons (D-DE), and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT).

Earlier this month, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) — one of Congress’s most progressive legislators — called on President-elect Trump to rescind his decision to nomination

I believe the LA Runoff is between two Republicans.

It's a Republican vs. a Democrat this year.

Republican advantage numbers in Senate hinge on Louisiana runoff

I think Sessions can probably vote for himself, but am not certain. If not, then it would deny a state its right to cast two votes for a matter before the Senate.

They will of course test the Republicans, to see if they have any fight in them.

For a long time, Democrats have enjoyed exceptional success, have Republicans have cowered from the least confrontation.

I hope that the Republicans give them a Newt Gingrich style bums rush to irrelevancy.

“Does anybody recall what kind of opposition R’s put up to Lynch?”

Do the R’s know how to oppose anything but conservatives in their own party?

If Holder and Lynch can get confirmed, ANYONE can get confirmed.

I’m wondering, with all of these “R” senator appointments, does the Republican majority status get threatened?

The Congress is filled with RINOs. Our majority in Congress is quite shaky.

Shaky? Try non-existent: 51 - more than 1 = minority status.

Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI)...

The same congressman who literally wants to criminalize *not* believing in Global Warming by throwing non-beleivers in jail.

Q: How many democrats does it take to write a coherent letter?

A: No one knows. It hasn’t been done yet.

According to “the” Harry Reid, the Senate only needs 51 votes for Senate approval of executive and judicial nominees.

Thanks Harry!!!

And what’s he going to say about it? Or any dems including the Squaw for that matter. We will now use “your” adopted rules.

“Tell them all to eat a turd”

Now just a cotton pickin’ minit here. Let’s be fair. Dems may be pedophiles and human traffickers, they may be corrupt, and they may be anti-American, but eat a turd? That would be cannibalism, and so far there’s no proof that they’ve sunk that low yet.

Sessions was trashed once years ago by the dems (Kennedy) for a judgeship

That's cause the weenie Bushes never stood up and fired back at the dems or effectively defended their own nominees. Instead the dems ran roughshod over the Bushes at will

Trump won't let that happen again

Thank God, finally someone (Trump) who will fire back

Dems turning to their tired old bag of tricks but the bag has a hole in it and their tricks don’t work anymore. Two months ago the media was happily speculating about the impending death of the GOP. Instead, we have an ongoing implosion of the Democrat Party. Two months in politics is an eternity!
