Tuesday on ABCs The View, the panel opened by discussing Donald Trumps recent tweets that threatened to jail or revoke citizenship to people who burned the American flag. While the whole panel agreed that this punishment would be a violation of the First Amendment, co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg went out of her way to defend the action of flag burning in the first place. When co-host Paula Faris stated that people who did this hated our country, Whoopi leaped in to make this brainless defense: [T]hey dont hate the country. Stop saying that! she argued with Faris.

Burning our flag is NOT speech.
Wholeheartedly agree!
If you have to say “they don’t hate the country”, trust me, they gate the country

So they burn the flag because they LOVE the country?
Maybe someone should burn a cross on her front lawn! That’s just as much freedom of speech as flag burning.
What the Hell are you talking about? I didn't mention any violence.
I agree with your thoughts here. The Rodney King points were spot on.
I am hopeful that Trump will affect inner cities very favorably, inspiring people there to turn to the Republicans more.
It is chilling to realize the part Democrats played in post civil war history with regard to Blacks, and how the Blacks give their full support to them.
Sorry, I meant “you” generically, not personally..... I should have written “anyone” instead of “you” in that sentence.
Thanks.
It is a horrible relationship; I believe a comedian recently commented (after Trump’s victory) that “Democrats haven’t been this angry since the Republicans freed the slaves”...
If Trump can offer the inner cities hope & opportunity (a hard task for sure), then it may peel away some black voters who want the American Dream. In the end, they stand to benefit if both parties have to fight for their votes.
Yes, isn’t that comment about the Democrats being ‘this angry’, great. It frames things perfectly. It’s so true. That’s the beauty of it.
I would also like to see some Blacks peeled off, but as a human I wish a better life for others, and the inner cities need to be focused on. Trump can do it.
He’s thinking of everyone, and I admire that in him.
It looks like his comment/question, “What do you have to lose?” paid off!
It was a very simply concept, and I think that resonates with people who question whether he will work for them or not.
Blacks clearly grasp Obama did nothing for them. When you get some of the radical folks who endorsed Trump, you know the folks are restless.
In that atmosphere, that was a clever ploy.
Now he just has to produce, and hopefully he’ll get rewarded for it.
Let’s hope so; it is about time blacks has someone who offered real change.
FRegards!
Thanks. I agree. Our nation is better for each citizen that does better. In the perfect world we have everyone who can, working.
I would like to see a plan that helps seniors continue to work. At some point you realize you’re better if you’re doing some structured activities during the work week.
Allow seniors to work, and adjust their Social Security payments down accordingly. They earn $1000 a month, and the government lowers their payment by $500 for that month.
You have a senior with better health, more connected and whole, bringing in more income.
You have massive numbers of of people who are taking less from the system.
They are still paying into the SS system with each paycheck.
There are so many win/wins out there. Good luck to Trump finding them all.
FRegards to you too.
I draw a fine line between “letting seniors work” and forcing them to; here in NJ many have to work just to keep their homes because our property taxes are so high.
