I don’t take the chance, myself. Too much college biology, LOL.

That being said, here’s my recipe:

1) Heat pan of water to boiling

2) Open box of “Stove Top Stuffing” (or imitation brand)

3) Stir into pot of boiling water

4) Remove from heat, cover, serve later.

Oh, I make a few “adjustments”, usually but that’s my basic recipe.

;)

Perhaps it was something at the living facility and not the Thanksgiving meal. out of 838 people who ate, only people from the same living facility became ill.

“All of the victims lived in the same facility, so officials said it was not clear if the victims fell ill because of the meal.

Officials said 835 people attended the event and ate the meal.”

Next time try using broth instead of water in your stuffing. Makes a big difference. Packaged chicken broth will do. If you are going to use supermarket stuffing mix, Bells is way better than Stove Top. Just my opinion.

that stuffing is literally exploding out of the turkey cavity. It is so good though.

Was a duo on WMAL (AM630) WashDC named Harden & Weaver..

Fat Jack & Lanky Frankie...

They used to ‘push’ a Thanksgiving stuffing recipe involving raw popcorn in the bird.

Have actually ‘heard’ of people who tried it BUT, like most ‘urban legends’ the only people that ever ‘knew’ such a person was your barbers yardmans mulch suppliers truck drivers third cousin etc etc etc

Actually, I usually do. If I don’t have a can of broth, I usually go with some chicken bouillon in a cup of water, substituted. I usually add a little soy sauce, some finely-chopped white and/or yellow onion, chopped parsley, parsley flakes, paprika, a small amount of garlic salt, some lemon pepper, maybe a bit of white cooking wine (if I have it), etc.

This year I was asked to pick up their cornbread stuffing -— too plain for me.

Been a few years since I did the bread crumb thing -— shoot it even came with instructions - nice.

Didn’t get to do a turkey yet - did ham this year stuffed with my own sauce invention (put it on a thread here, gotta find it) - just made more ham like it today.

BUT I’m seeing a recipe to slice up some Granny Smith apples and put into your turkey before roasting. That sounds like fun but with obviously the same caveats.

I’ve stopped stuffing in the turkey years ago when I ran a temp and it wasn’t even close to 165. Cooking longer would have dried out the breasts.

nralife was kind enough to reformat my bad paragraph so my ham steaks recipe can be actually read:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3497875/posts?page=6#6

Used the rest of the can today (saved in separate container in fridge). 75% orange slices and about 25% juice. Just added the sugar, cinnamon, brown sugar and dried cranberries in butter and white cooking wine. Reduced and reglazed the ham (pre-sliced). Wedged in thin slices of Granny Smith apple every few slices of ham before putting in Dutch Oven and baking 225-250 for about a hour or so. Full bag of chopped walnuts, too.

I’ve never understood why people get hyper about Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners and fuss all week making the meal. Ugh, by then nothing is fresh and as you say prime time for food poisoning.

I have one oven and a decades old timetable. First, the fridge is eaten clean the day before so there’s room. The cornbread for the dressing (not stuffing) and pies are baked the evening before. First thing on Thanksgiving day, the turkey goes into the oven at 7 am on a bit higher temperature than on the package. At 10:30 am, the sides are prepped. At 11, the bird comes out of the oven and the sides go in. At 11:40, the sides come out and the rolls go into the oven. Dinner is served at noon. There is no time for bacteria to grow. Knock on wood, no one has ever died from my holiday dinners.

Perhaps it was something at the living facility ...

Great, another story line that's going be overused on all the cop shows. "'Angel of Death' uses community dinners to kill off...impacting a struggling single mother of 8's fledgling business... who meets a handsome cop while stranded in a bus station coming back from seminar on the use of schmeat in catering..."

I boil the giblets in about 3 cups of water, then use that water in the stuffing, and mince the soft giblet meat to stir into the stuffing. (Also use a pound of sage sausage, and celery and onions cooked in the sausage grease.)
