According to NBC News, minorities are heading to the gun stores to arm up following the victory of Donald Trump in the presidential election.
After Donald Trump's win, Yolanda Scott is upgrading the crowbar she keeps in her purse to a small-caliber pistol.
Scott, an African-American, is one of many minorities who have been flocking to gun stores to protect themselves, afraid Trump's victory will incite more hate crimes.
"You feel that racists now feel like they can attack us just because the president is doing it," Earl Curtis, the owner of Blue Ridge Arsenal in Chantilly, Virginia, told NBC News.
Gun store owners told NBC News that since November 8 they're seeing up to four times as many black and minority customers — and black gun groups are reporting double the normal number of attendees at their meetings since the election.
The Second Amendment is for everyone and I read this as good news although NBC puts a sinister spin on it. After all, the more people who buy guns, the more people have a vested interest in protecting their right to keep and bear arms -- and the media doesn't like that. Instead of focusing on how important it is for every American to be able to protect themselves, NBC turns this into a discussion of a new racist administration that has unleashed a racist mob onto the streets to target minorities.
And Donald J. Trump's surprise victory in November has done nothing to abate the racial violence — it even seems to have encouraged more open displays of hatred. More than 700 instances have already been reported to the Southern Poverty Law Center [SPLC] just since November 8, and LGBT hotlines are seeing an "all-time peak" in calls from people reporting harassment.
The SPLC is actually a lefty hate group. Why does NBC reference the group as if it were a neutral authority?
Many of these "incidents" have been debunked, but nevertheless, every American should be able to take steps to protect themselves and their families.
So, while store owners say that traffic is up overall, the new rush of minority customers arming themselves is something of an unexpected glimmer for the industry.
"They thought Trump won't win," said the 53-year-old Curtis, who has noticed an "uptick" in the number of black and minority customers.
Largely, says Curtis, they're "shell-shocked" first-time shooters looking to get a handgun to protect themselves from "race riots and being attacked by racists" — afraid that what Trump and his supporters have already done is just the beginning.
It's not just stores that are seeing an increase in minority traffic. Second Amendment groups are too.
Black gun owner groups are seeing an uptick too, led by African-American women. They report receiving an increased number of emails from across the country from concerned minorities looking to learn more about gun safety, training, and firearm access.
Philip Smith, founder of the 14,000-member National African American Gun Association said his members are buying up every kind of gun, from Glock handguns to AR-15 rifles to AK-47 semi-automatic weapons — though most first-time buyers gravitate toward a nine-millimeter pistol or .38 revolver. He said that twice the usual attendees have RSVP'd for the next meeting of the Georgia chapter, which he heads.
Thank G-d these groups are able to help people decide what kind of firearm they should buy.
Most folks are pretty nervous about what kind of America we're going to see over the next 5-10 years," he said. That includes members apprehensive about protests against Trump becoming unruly, as well as an "apocalyptic end result where there's anarchy, jobs are gone, the economy is tipped in the wrong direction and everyone has to fend for themselves." They don't know who might be busting down their door at 2 a.m.
"I tell everyone don't panic, use your head. If you see something not normal, get out. You're probably right. And if you're not able to get out, you're prepared to do what you need to do," said Smith.
Americans have the right to do what they need to do to protect themselves against direct threats against their lives and the safety of their families. Welcome, new gun owners. If you see me at the range, I'll be more than happy to help you out!

I have zero problem with any American who is responsible and passes a background check purchasing a firearm. I DO have a problem with an armed racist group, 14,000 members strong.

The article’s insinuation is revealing and more than a little disturbing. After 8 years of Obama’s inflamatory “get in their faces/they bring a knife/the police acted stupidly” and the `knock-out’ game and `polar bear hunting,’ is that what the article suggests—that minorities are afraid of retribution?
I would guess 99 out of a hundred of us law abiding white folks just want to be left the `ell alone by criminal thugs, so we carry.
I don’t recall Trump having said anything close to the incitement that came out of Obama’s trap year-after-year.
Trump has mentioned `law and order’ and finally enforcing our laws. He has talked about actually doing something to ameliorate the serious crime problems in cities like Chicago and LA, beyond the lip service they got every four years from Democrats seeking their vots.
Is that the point, that—for whatever reason—now minorities are afraid that we Trump supporters want `payback’ because now Trump is now running things? If true it reflects badly on them. It suggests they felt they had license.
As much as we may have disliked Obama 8 years ago, we accepted the election, sat back and pretty much said, “OK. Show us.”
As time went by we learned that he was pretty much an empty suit with a mellifluous baritone and smoothly fed teleprompter lines—increasingly degraded over time with stammering and off-teleprompt statements that frankly didn’t make any sense—and we came to see that he is filled with as much political cant, bias and prejudice as any good Democrat.
Whatever the point they seek to make, this is another good example of the MSM stirring up animosity. Let’s put them out of business. I cancelled my newspaper quite a while ago, and cable recently. Don’t feed the beast.

Earl Curtis of Blue Ridge Arsenal makes a good point about the NRA not always having the back of blacks who are abused, especially by cops, for being legally armed.

I got my carry pistol there, and they are all good guys. Northern Virginia is pretty liberal, but there are tons of people of all races and both sexes who are with federal law enforcement and protection, and private security firms.
Check out the National African American Gun Association - they look like an upstanding group to me.

You’ve got it a bit mixed up. The author of the PJMedia article is warning readers not to visit the NBC website, which is where the “interesting parts” are being quoted from.
Right. If they live in Chicago, Baltimore, LA, NYC, Boston, SF, Detroit, Atlanta, etc. I have serious doubts that “Trump followers” are their most serious threats ....

I went to their website (http://www.naaga.co), and they do look like an upstanding group that I personally wouldn’t mind spending time with at the range, but there’s a problem...I have the wrong skin color. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m tired of the division being created by the ever growing list of “hyphenated American” groups. Under the Obama regime, it has been encouraged to set oneself apart from others based on skin color, sexual orientation, and plenty of other things rather than just being or becoming an AMERICAN. Obama was touted to be the “Great Uniter”, and he was going to end racism in our nation. Well, since we know everything he says is a lie, and it’s obvious that relations between different races has been set decades back, I question if creating division between all Americans has been the goal of Obama from the very start.
An armed person is a citizen, a disarmed one is a subject.

There was concern that gun sales would drop off after Obama so this is good news!
Let me guess, these are the same people that have to be protected from showing an I.D. when they Vote, right?
